Bounty 17 is an adventuring dungeon crawl focused on eliminating a bandit leader called the Trapmaster and his allies after the authorities of Olbia decide to continue operations around Fort Ileyn. Players are contacted by Olbian authorities, must traverse stone halls and braziers, and complete the quest by slaying the Trapmaster and his minions. The dungeon includes DC-based hazards: an axe triggered by Dexterity saves, color-tile Perception discovery followed by Constitution saves, and a final combat where bandits shield the Trapmaster while he uses Cunning Action and Lay Trap.

With Fort Ileyn retaken, the authorities of Olbia have decided to continue their operations in the area. They have recognized that the land around the fort still contains many threats, and seek to eradicate those as well. To that end, the Olbian authorities have identified a bandit leader who has been causing problems in various villages for the last couple of years. He needs to be eliminated, and so adventurers are needed. | The players are contacted by the Olbian authorities.
| | --- | | The players must eliminate the bandit leader and his allies.
| The players will each receive 500 gold pieces for their efforts. Here are some details about the dungeon: The walls are made of stone. The area is lit by braziers. The ceilings are 30 feet high. The players complete the quest once they have slain the Trapmaster and his allies. As a reward, the players get 500 gold pieces each from the Olbian authorities. On top of that, the players also find a Goblin Coin on the remains of the Bandit Trapmaster. The players enter the area from the arrow on the map. As they walk through the first room, they encounter the following threats: ⦿ ''Dexterity.'' As the players pass through 1. on the map, they hear a click from somewhere. They must succeed on a DC 14 Dexterity Saving Throw, taking 2d8 slashing damage or half as much on a success, as a giant axe swings down from the ceiling. What is even stranger, the axe was not triggered by any mechanism at all. ⦿ ''Perception.'' Moving on, at 2. on the map, the players who succeed on a DC 14 Perception Check might notice that some of the floor's tiles have a slightly different color. ⦿ ''Constitution.'' Should the players step on those tiles, the tiles heat up to deadly temperatures. The players that step on them must succeed on a DC 13 Constitution Saving Throw, taking 1d10 fire damage on a failure or half as much on a success. After traversing the traps, the players reach a new room. Read the following: ''Encounter!'' The players face the Bandit Trapmaster and his x6 Bandit minions at 3. on the map. In battle, the Bandits work as human shields. Their sole job is to stop the players from getting to the Trapmaster. Even if the players do reach him, he can use his Cunning Action to escape. The Trapmaster in general keeps moving through the area, using his Lay Trap ability as he goes. You can adjust the difficulty of the battle by doing a few things: The Trapmaster can have already placed traps inside the room the players find him (the number is up to you). Although the Trapmaster's active traps are seen only by him, he can also have told his Bandit allies about those. The players must succeed on a DC 14 Perception Check to see the traps. You can change the DC to change the battle's difficulty. Finally, the traps at 1. and 2. on the map could also be reactivated by the Trapmaster if you wish.
