In the first quarter, investment surged to USD 994 Million, up 102.85% year on year, underscoring a momentum that is both broad-based and increasingly credible. Investment activity in Batam remained solid in the first quarter of 2026, supported by both foreign and domestic capital. Foreign investment reached USD 503 Million, while domestic investment stood at USD 486 Million. Domestic investment rose 216% year-on-year, indicating stronger local confidence in Batam’s economic prospects. The investment mix was led by several key sectors. Electronics and machinery accounted for 23.65%, followed by chemicals and pharmaceuticals at 21 . 18%, services at 17.70%, and industrial estates and property at 13.09% . Batam also remains closely connected to global capital networks. Singapore continues to stand out as a strategic regional partner, while Hong Kong, the United States, China, and Japan remain among the leading sources of investment. Each brings a distinct role, from long-term capital confidence and technology transfer to industrial collaboration and sustainable partnerships. Chairman of BP Batam, Amsakar Achmad, said the achievement reflects growing investor confidence in Batam. “This surge shows that Batam is not only able to attract investment, but also to execute it faster, with greater certainty, and moreproductively,” he said. “ Growth is not just about attracting investment but executing it with speed and certainty.” Vice Chairperson of BP Batam, Li Claudia Chandra, stated that Batam’s dominant contribution to investment in the Riau Islands has strategic significance. “Batam plays a central role in driving the regional economy. This growth creates a multiplier effect across industry, logistics, trade, and services,” she explained. Deputy for Investment of BP Batam, Fary Djemy Francis, emphasized that the achievement reflects quality growth. “This is not merely a spike in numbers. A healthy investment structure—where FDI remains strong and DDI grows aggressively—shows that Batam is increasingly perceived as a feasible, bankable, and executable investment destination,” he stressed. The figures suggest that Batam’s investment base is becoming more balanced, with foreign capital remaining steady and domestic participation gaining momentum. This positions Batam as an important industrial and investment hub within Indonesia’s broader economic landscape. For investors, the message is increasingly clear: Batam is moving beyond potential. It is becoming a place where capital can be deployed with speed, certainty, and scale Amsakar Achmad Chairman of BP Batam Li Claudia Chandra Vice Chairperson of BP Batam Fary Djemy Francis Deputy for Investment of BP Batam in BP [Batam | Investinbatam | bpbatam.go.id](Batam | Investinbatam | bpbatam.go.id) Contents Remarks Making sense of an out-of-this-world SpaceX IPO 8 In Context Economies are struggling.
