This document is a children's story titled "Bird Hunters," written by Dominic and illustrated by a team of artists including Wiehan de Jager, Marion Drew, and others. It was adapted for Bloom by Marlene Custer as part of the African Storybook Project, funded by the South African Institute for Distance Education. The story, originally created by pupils of Glory of God Primary School in Uganda, is part of an English storybook collection. The narrative begins by introducing four children – three boys and one girl – who live in the village of Nakwiga and attend Busolwe Glory of God Primary School. One day, they decide to skip school and go hunting in a nearby forest. The story then shifts to the perspective of the birds, who are displeased with being hunted and express their anger. They vocalize their discontent, stating that their actions will become "bad" if the children perceive them as such. The story highlights themes of consequence, the impact of actions on others, and a child's decision-making process when faced with temptation, like skipping school for an activity like hunting. The copyright is held by Dominic in 2015, with stipulations against commercial use while allowing adaptation and sharing with proper attribution to authors and illustrators. The illustration style appears to be colorful and engaging for young readers, depicting the characters and their environment in a vibrant manner. The overall purpose of the story is likely to impart moral lessons through an engaging narrative, promoting education and ethical behavior among children, while also celebrating creativity through collaborative authorship and illustration.
