Final Review for Baylor Tutoring’s Human Physiology course (BIO 3322), focused on key concepts across body systems to prepare for the final exam. The guide emphasizes active recall over passive rereading and suggests methods such as the Blank Page Method, studying with a group, and explaining concepts to others. It includes a structured Section 1 on innervations with a receptor/neurotransmitter table detailing somatic motor and autonomic pathways and their functions, plus an introduction to Section 2 topics for further practice.

Baylor Tutoring Human Physiology: BIO 3322 Final Review for Human Physiology This week is the last week of class, and typically in this week (and the surrounding weeks of class) you are reviewing for the final exam. Please use the review below (as well as the other resources from the semester) as a general overview of some of the key concepts taught in the course! Please take a look at ALL of the weekly resources listed on our website to help you review for the final exam!! If you have any questions about these study guides, the final schedule of group tutoring sessions, private 30 minute tutoring appointments, the Baylor Tutoring YouTube channel, or any tutoring services we offer, [please visit our website](please visit our website www.baylor.edu/tutoring or)[ ](please visit our website www.baylor.edu/tutoring or)[www.baylor.edu/tutoring](please visit our website www.baylor.edu/tutoring or)[ or](please visit our website www.baylor.edu/tutoring or)[ ](please visit our website www.baylor.edu/tutoring or)[call our drop in center during open business hours](call our drop in center during open business hours) ([M-](M-)Th 9AM-8PM on class days) at 254-710-4135. The last day of tutoring in the drop in center will be the last day of class. This review of the semester will consist of focus topics from each body system to practice and study for your final exam. The best way to practice the material in this course is to use active recall techniques, so rather than just listing out all of the information from previous resources, this final review will be designed for you to test your knowledge from the past and see if there are any gaps you need to fill in prior to your final exam. Examples of active recall techniques that can be beneficial in your studying of the course content include: 1. The Blank Page Method: write down a single topic on the board (example: MAP) and write down EVERYTHING you know about this given topic. The generation of this knowledge rather than the passive reading of the material will benefit you immensely as it will showcase your strengths and weaknesses! 2. Work with a Study Group: Study Groups are essential for this course because you will be able to quiz each other, explain concepts to each other, and just be exposed to thinking deeply about the material in new ways you may not have thought about before. 3. Explain the Content to Yourself/Someone Else: When you can explain a concept in full to another friend in the class, to yourself, or even to your mom on Baylor Tutoring Facetime, you have a deep understanding of the material that will carry you on your final exam! Be sure to practice this about topics you may have struggled with on past exams to solidify this knowledge for the future. These are just a few of the many ways you can use active recall to help you study foryour final exam!! Best of luck studying, and make sure to review the concept questions atthe end of this resource to practice these techniques! Section 1: Innervations Before delving into each body system, it is important to review a crucial topic that governs all of physiology: innervations. Throughout the semester, you have learned about so many different kinds of receptors, their target tissues, and the effects that they have in the body, so it is important to put all of that information in one place as a general overview of the major receptor types in each of the body systems. | INNERVATIONS | LOCATION | NEUROTRANSMITTER/RECEPTOR | FUNCTION | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Somatic Motor Neuron | Skeletal
Muscle | Acetylcholine (ACH); Nicotinic N1 Receptors | End-Plate Potential (at the NMJ) | | Sympathetic | SA/AV
Nodes | Norepinephrine; β1 Receptors | Increase Heart Rate by increasing the opening of Na+ funny/T-type Ca2

FAQs

What study approach does the final review recommend for BIO 3322?

Use active recall techniques rather than only reviewing prior material passively. The guide suggests testing knowledge to find gaps before the final exam.

What is included in Section 1 of the review?

Section 1 focuses on innervations and consolidates receptor and target tissue information across the body systems. It provides a table with location, neurotransmitter/receptor, and function.

How can students use the Blank Page Method during studying?

Write a single topic on the board (e.g., MAP) and list everything known about that topic. Generating the knowledge helps reveal strengths and weaknesses.
