A parody picture book that turns the anxiety of ordering an Uber into a comedic, cautionary adventure. The narrator recounts a mistaken car pickup and compares the experience to P.D. Eastman’s “Are You My Mother?” structure, with a sequence of absurd iconic NYC vehicles that insist they are not the Uber. Includes practical advice for avoiding mix-ups, matching license plate and driver details in the app, and confirming the name before entering.

In that moment I felt a lot like the lost, confused baby bird in P.D.Eastman's Are You My Mother?,one of my childhood favorites. In thesame way the newborn bird in the original book asks a number of farmanimals and objects that clearly are not his mother if they are,the manin Are You My Uber?encounters a succession of iconic NYC vehiclesand characters, increasing in their absurdity, who consistently informhim that they are,in fact, not his Uber.In this way,the book is anexpression of how we can allfeel lost in the world sometimes, like littlebaby birds. But it's okay!It could be worse.Baby birds are sooo cute.Pass the worms. A man got off a midnight bus at Port Authority. He had never been to New York before. He needed to get uptown. He looked at his phone."Where is my Uber?"he said. He looked up.He did not see it.He looked down.He did not see it. "I will go and look for it,"he said.So away he went. He did not know what his Uber looked like.It said it was a Ford Taurus. He did not know what a Ford Taurus looked like.
