My name is Doug Liscio and I will be teaching the AP United States History course this 2024 FALL Semester. I will be starting my seventh year at Harrison High School and my 18th year teaching in Cobb County (23rd year teaching overall) . I am looking forward to a very exciting semester and having the opportunity to serve Harrison students who have enrolled in theAP United States History course!
Students in the FALL Semester class should sign up to receive Remind Messaging (see the Remind sign-up information below) . By signing up for Remind messaging, students will be able to contact me during the summer if they have questions about pre-course reading and continue to stay in contact throughout the FALL Semester as the primary means of communication outside of class.
There will be no assigned "Pre-Course Reading" this FALL Semester. However, students should acquire the following Amsco textbook and Presidential Courage book by the first day of school as reading assignments will be assigned on the first day (see details below) . | | | --- | --- | |

United States History: Preparing for the Advanced Placement Examination (edition, 2022-2024) by John M. Schmalbach and John J. Newman. | | | | Please acquire a paperback copy of United States History: Preparing for the Advanced Placement Examination by Amsco Publishing (new or used) by the first day of FALL Semester. The textbook can be purchased on various websites and should be from versions dated 2022-2024. The Amsco book will be used by students as the primary textbook for the APUSH class. Expect assigned readings throughout the semester as well as individual quizzes (and group) assessments from the readings to make sure you are mastering the historic context. | | | | | --- | --- | |

We will refer to this book as the“Outside” reading text as students will be reading assigned chapters throughout the semester. Students will complete individual (and group) assessments throughout the semester. | |
APUSH Exam Review Book
AP U.S. History: Prep Plus (versions 2018-2023) by Kaplan Publishing. | | | | For FALL Semester students who want to practice fortheAPUSH Exam, you can acquire a paperback copy of the Kaplan AP U.S. History Review book (new or used) on various websites (editions, 2018-2024). The Kaplan book will NOT be used in the APUSH course and no official assignments will be given using the Kaplan book. However, the Kaplan book will make a great resource for students looking for extra practice in the spring semester as students prepare for the APUSH Exam in May of 2025. | |
