This document provides information about the Law School Admission Test (LSAT), a standardized test required for admission to most law schools in the United States and Canada. It is administered by the Law School Admission Council (LSAC). The LSAT is designed to assess skills that are critical for success in law school, including reading comprehension, analytical reasoning, and logical reasoning. The test consists of multiple-choice sections and a writing sample. The reading comprehension section evaluates a test-taker's ability to read and understand complex texts, similar to those encountered in law school coursework. The analytical reasoning section assesses the ability to understand a system of relationships and to draw conclusions about that system. The logical reasoning section measures the ability to analyze arguments, draw inferences, and identify flaws in reasoning. The writing sample, which is not scored but is sent to law schools, allows test-takers to demonstrate their persuasive writing skills. Preparation for the LSAT typically involves studying the test format, practicing with sample questions, and developing effective test-taking strategies. Understanding the LSAT scoring system, which ranges from 120 to 180, is also crucial for applicants. This document serves as a foundational resource for prospective law students navigating the LSAT process.
