This special issue of the Mensa Research Journal honors K. Warner Schaie and presents four papers addressing adult development and aging. The issue opens with Schaie’s autobiographical account of his path into geropsychology and origins of the Settle Longitudinal Study. It then summarizes findings from the Seattle Longitudinal Study on intellectual development, including age-related declines, generational differences, stability of abilities, and educational interventions. The volume concludes with theoretical and measurement-focused discussions of everyday competence across the lifespan, including works co-authored with Sherry L. Willis.
