Late-1989 issues of The Free China Journal compile international and domestic political coverage from Tokyo and Taiwan, highlighting tensions after the June Tiananmen Square massacre. Articles discuss alleged causes behind a jetliner hijacking, reactions among scholars and pro-democracy students, and the broader “reign of terror.” The paper also reports election-related polling, an arbitration proposal between Taiwan and mainland businesses, and Taiwan’s invitation to attend OECD discussions in Paris.
