Sep 28, 2026

A Guide to High Mass Abroad by Athelstan Riley is a liturgical handbook designed specifically for members of the Church of England traveling in Roman Catholic countries. Recognizing the difficulty many Anglicans face in following the Latin Mass, the author provides a structured guide to assist them in participating in liturgical worship. The work presents the Latin Liturgy in a way that is intelligible to the Anglican reader, while maintaining a clear theological position that respects Roman Catholic devotion but disputes Papal claims. It serves as an essential companion for travelers seeking to engage with the Eucharist despite linguistic and institutional differences, and reflects the author's broader interest in the preservation of the Catholic Faith across diverse traditions. The text includes detailed liturgical notes, the Asperges, and the Ordinary of the Mass, making it a comprehensive resource for spiritual engagement during travel throughout the European continent.
