Little Goat is a shy and sensitive young goat facing the challenges of starting school. He worries about the bigger goats and struggles to fit in. During singing class, he improvises his own lyrics to the Goat Song, which leads to him being scolded and sent to the corner by Billu Ma'am, much to the amusement of his peers. Later, in Games period, he gets distracted by ants and is reprimanded by Hoppy Ma'am for crawling instead of jumping, drawing more laughter from the other goats. This makes Little Goat sad, and he eats his lunch alone, his tears making his grass salty. Upon returning home, he shares his experiences with his mother, who comforts him, validating his creativity with the song and his quiet observation of the ants. The next day, Little Goat makes an effort to conform, singing the song correctly and participating in Games as expected, aiming to avoid further negative attention and find his place among his classmates. The story explores themes of individuality, conformity, parental support, and the anxieties of a child navigating a new social environment.
