FAQs

What declarations must the candidate and teacher complete for NEA component 2?

The candidate must confirm the work was produced without unacceptable help or information and list any unacknowledged materials used. The teacher must confirm the work meets specification conditions, is authenticated as solely the candidate’s, and that AI was not used as the sole or primary marking means.

How should candidates handle help from others and acknowledgements?

If candidates received help/information from anyone other than subject teacher(s), they must provide details. Any books, leaflets, other materials, or tools (including AI tools) used to complete the work must be listed if not already acknowledged in the work itself, and copied materials without acknowledgement are treated as deliberate deception.

What are the assessment criteria and special rules for AO3 marks?

Marks are awarded against AO1–AO4, with a total mark maximum of 96. AO3 must include evidence of both drawing and written annotation; if either is missing, the AO3 mark is reduced by 4, and if the original AO3 mark is below 4 it must be reduced to zero.
