Sir/s, This is bring to your kind knowledge that General Council of the Bar Council ofIndia has passed a resolution with regard to exemption of time period withregard to passing AIBE after Enrolment as an Advocate.The Resolution dated3012.2022 is given below:- The Bar Council of India has been receiving requests frommany Advocates that owing to the pandemic,they havesuffered miserably.Many of them were not even able to takecare of basic necessities of their families.If they were able toarrange for fooding they had difficulty in arranging formedication and health care.Many Advocates lost their nearand dear ones during the time of pandemic.Inspite of thebest efforts of Bar Council of India,State Bar Councils,various Bar Associations and many magnanimous Advocates,the legal fraternity as a whole suffered a lot due to closure ofcourts.Thereafter,hogging of virtual hearings by a certainsegment of Advocates and also due to the reduction in thepaying capacity of clients and reduction in the number oflitigations owing to the pandemic,also led to a majority ofthe legal fraternity from being literally deprived of their rightto livelihood. The Bar Council of India had earlier vide a resolution dated 29.7.2020 had exempted the period from 24th March to 31stMarch,2021 from being counted as a necessary time periodfrom the point of view of considering it within the requisitetime period of two years from the date of enrolment,to clearthe AIBE in order to further continue in practice. By way of this instant resolution,dated 30th December,2022,it is hereby resolved that the period from the date of the lastAll India Bar exam held on 31st October,2021 till-April,2023,by which time,the result of the next AIBE is likely tobe declared, is hereby exempted from being counted as anecessary time period from the point of view of considering itwithin the requisite time period of two years from the date ofenrolment as an Advocate to pass AIBE. Thus,it is hereby resolved that this period shall remainexempted and shall not be counted while calculating the twoyear period from the date of enrolment for the purposes ofcounting the time period for clearing/passing AIBE.
