Tracking changes in areas like mobility, mood, sleep, and daily activities provides a clearer understanding of how the medication is affecting your overall health, helps you recognize trends in your treatment journey, and supports more informed conversations with your care team. \n While this guide provides a broad overview of your overall well-being, there’s also value in more detailed or focused symptom tracking. Keeping a closer eye on specific symptoms and side effects can help identify patterns and changes that may require adjustments to your care plan. For more tools and resources on focused symptom tracking, [visit ](visit parkinson.ca)[ parkinson.ca](visit parkinson.ca). \nWell-being indicators \nBelow are brief descriptionsofthe well-being indicatorsand some suggestions to help you track them. You can choose to track observations for all indicators or focus on the ones most relevant to your experience. \nMobility: Pay attention to your ease of movement, balance, and walking. Are you finding it easier or harder to turnaround? Do you experience muscle stiffness, cramping, or freezing episodes (i.e., feeling like your feet are glued to the ground)? Track any changes in your posture, coordination, or ability to complete daily tasks like dressing, bathing, or getting inandoutof chairs. Noting when these issues happen, such as early morning or after medication, can help your care team make informed adjustments. \nOn/off time: “On” times are when your Parkinson’s medication is working welland motor symptoms, such as stiff muscles and slow movement, are controlled, while “off” times are when symptoms return or worsen. Track when your medication feels most effective and when you start noticing a return of symptoms. How long does \nit take foryour medication to kick in, and how long does the relief last? Noting the timing, frequency, and severity of “off” periods will help your healthcare team fine-tune your treatment plan for more consistent symptom management. Make note of how you feel during these “on” and “off” times, such as sleepy or anxious with shortness of breath. \nDyskinesia: Dyskinesias are involuntary, writhing, wiggling, or jerking movements that can occur as aside effect of some Parkinson’s medications. Track when they happen, their severity, and whether they affect daily activities. This can help your healthcare team adjust your treatment as needed. \nSleep: Quality and duration of rest can be affected by both Parkinson’sand your medication. Are you having trouble falling asleep or staying asleep? Do you wake up feeling rested, or are you frequently tired during the day? Track any changes in your sleep patterns, including restlessness, vivid dreams, or nighttime muscle stiffness or pain. It’s also helpful to note how your sleep quality impacts your energy and mood the following day. \nDizziness/lightheadedness: Some Parkinson’s medications can cause dizziness or lightheadedness, often due to changes in blood pressure. Track when these symptoms occur—do they happen shortly after taking your medication, when standing up, or at certain times of the day? Note if they affect your balance, increase your fall risk, or interfere with daily activities. \nExercise: The frequency and intensity of physical activity playa key role in managing Parkinson’s. Are you able to maintain your usual exercise routine? What motivates you or what gets in the way? Note the types of activities you do—like walking, stretching, or strength training—and how you feel before, during, and after. Are there specific movements or exercises that have become more difficult, ordo you notice improvements in your stamina and flexibility? \nAppetite: Changes in appetite can beasign of how your medication is affecting you.
