However, landlords still evict tenants based on immigration status even with these protections. FVAP has created a template letter that you can fill out and give to your landlord if you receive a notice ending your tenancy, for example a 3-Day or 60-Day Notice, because of your immigration status. Your advocate may be able to help you fill out this template.\nThis template letter explains the law and tells your landlord not to file for an eviction due to your immigration status or the status of someone you know. Because the eviction process moves fast, it is important to consult with an attorney as soon as you receive an eviction notice.
