The kit supports the Ecosystem Invaders campaign with engaging materials aimed at gardeners and recreational water users, including bilingual statement-and-poster sets, colouring resources, and playing cards. It also covers tools and guidance for wider action, such as an eDNA game, partner pack leaflets, and information on reporting and managing invasive non-native species.","WaREN \nInvasive Species Resources Kit \nWales Resilient Ecological Network \nMontbretia (Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora) © Lisa Toth \nJessica. F. Minett. , Gareth. Holland-Jones. , and Tomos. S. Jones | 2023 \nWhat is the Wales Resilient Ecological Network? \nThe Wales Resilient Ecological Network (WaREN) project promotes biodiversity and ecological resilience. We are achieving this by developing a collaborative and sustainable approach to tackling non-native species (also referred to Invasive Alien Species (IAS) or Invasive Non-Native Species (INNS) . Here we refer to them as invasive species) across Wales. WaREN is very grateful for the support of our project partners; check out our webpage to see all of our partners. \nHere is a video to explain what an invasive species in English and Welsh. \nAsian hornet (Vespa veluntina) © National Bee Unit \nIncreasing awareness \nEcosystem invaders campaign \nThroughout the Ecosystem Invaders campaign was developed in 2022 (further development in 2023) to provide tools to increase engagement and participation. The aim of the campaign is to increase the awareness of invasive species and their impacts in Wales to improve public engagement. The target audience is gardeners and recreational water users. Tools include: \n Invasive species hunt-a set of invasive species statements which are matched to respective cartoon posters. \n Colouring book-a set of invasive species cartoons. \n Ecosystem Invaders playing cards (‘top trumps’) \nwhich are available here in Welsh and English (note these are the print files for the individual cards-funding is acknowledged on the box) . \neDNA game \nOne of the tools we use to engage with families is our eDNA game. The game is used to explain how environmental DNA (eDNA) is used to find plants and animals in the wild, such as in rivers. If you are interested in learning more about theeDNA game, please get in contact with WaREN. \nEcosystem Invaders resources are included in our partner pack, which can be accessed here: English Welsh. \nResources include: \n• Bilingual leaflet for general public \n• Bilingual leaflet for gardeners \n• Bilingual leaflet for recreational water \nEcosystem Invaders campaign page \n(English and Welsh) covers: \n• What are invasive species \n• What is Ecosystem Invaders \n• Examples of invasive species – English and Welsh \n• What can you do \nCampaign videos: \n• Let’s tackle invasive species in Wales!
