This multiday workshop will be offered annually for supervisory juvenile probation officers to learn knowledge and skills about leading and managing within a juvenile probation department. Also, the Academy allows the supervisory juvenile probation officers to spend time together building lasting relationships by learning collaboratively; meeting JCJC team members, veteran supervisory juvenile probation officers, and third-party subject matter experts serving as trainers during the Academy; networking with peers; and sharing experiences and ideas. \nThe knowledge and skills learned during the Academy are directly applicable to supervisory juvenile probation officers. For example, participants will explore how to lead and the habits of great leaders, including effective communication and feedback with their employees; recognize the relationships between a juvenile probation department’s mission, vision, strategic planning, and performance management; and identify the importance of ethics, equity, and inclusion in their daily work. \nSecond, the Academy supports skill development as an equal partner to knowledge acquisition. The participants will return to their departments with skills immediately useful for their work as supervisors. For instance, attendees will be able to apply data-driven decision-making; implement efficient resource management; and employ evidence-based performance evaluations. \nThe two-day event will conclude with a panel discussion regarding community, family, service provider, and victim engagement and an invitation to attend the Pennsylvania Council of Chief Juvenile Probation Officers’ Executive Council Meeting on April 11, 2025. \nINSIDE: \nNew Release: EBP Quality Assurance Job Description \nand Performance Appraisal Documents Now Available............2 \nFrom Classroom to Conference: Students Dive Into Juvenile Justice ......................3 \nDeadline Extended: JCJC Graduate Education Program........4 \nMyth vs. Fact.................................5 \nJCJC Graduate Education Alumni Spotlight ...........................6 \nImportance of Caring Adults for Youth ............................7 \nSave the Date: \n2025 James E. The participants may then build upon that solid foundation through their future professional development and work experience to the benefit of the employees they supervise and the justice-involved youth and communities they serve. \nRegistration for the 2025 Leadership Academy is available via the JCJC Event Management System.
