This position reports to the Locating Supervisor. |\n| --- |\n| Essential Functions |\n| To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable an individual with disabilities to perform the essential functions. |\n\n• Locates and marks underground utility lines for damage prevention, surveys, and VUPS tickets in compliance with the Miss Utility and the State Corporation Commission (SCC) requirements.  \n• Codes Miss Utility tickets to report findings.  \n• Performs research of utility line locations utilizing maps, plans, and records. Preparesand collects field information for the Geographical Information System (GIS) on the various Authority systems.  \n• Utilizes vacuum excavation equipment as needed to locate and uncover facilities and in assisting other departments.  \n• May respond to after hour emergency tickets and assistance.  \n• Perform other duties as assigned by the Locating Supervisor.  \nMinimum Qualifications  \n• High School diploma or GED  \n• Experience reading design plans and GIS maps  \n• Experience with locating equipment preferred  \n• Proficient in Microsoft Office® .  \n• Possess sufficient skills to efficiently and effectively gather, organize, and manipulate data from various sources.  \n• Experience with drafting and construction practices preferred.  \n• Possess strong human relations and communications skills so as to be able to effectively communicate with all parties involved in a project.  \n• Obtain certification in Underground Utility Locating and Damage Prevention within one year of hire.  \n• OSHA Confined Space and Trench Safety within six months of hire.  \n• VDOT Basic Work Zone training within one year of hire.  \n• Valid driver's license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.  \nAdditional Information  \n• This position has no supervisory responsibility.  \n• The position typically requires working Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with a thirty-minute lunch break.  \n• This position may require work after hours and on weekends, and is subject to being oncall during the off-hours as may be needed for emergency locating.  \nWorking Conditions  \nThe characteristics listed below are representative of the physical demands, physical agility, sensory requirements, and environmental exposures required by an individual to successfully perform the essential duties of this position.
