As such, it is useful to our members who may be undergoing transition themselves, local executives, committee members, shop stewards and the USW membership in general. In addition, this handbook is useful for USW sta􀀞 representatives as a common starting point to work with Steelworkers who are considering or undergoing transitions. Finally, the handbook can also be useful to employers as a guide. \nThank you to the USW District 6 Human Rights Committee for their hard work in creating the very rst USW Transition Handbook and for sharing this important information throughout our union. \nThis handbook is divided into three parts, with additional appendices. \nPA","cbCaikv6awhm1qt9","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaikv6awhm1qt9","pdf",681415,36,"English","# Introduction\n# What is Transitioning?\n## Understanding Trans USW Members\n## What is Transition?\n## Timing and Process of Transition\n# A “How-To” Guide for Everyone Involved\n## Elements of a Transition Plan\n## Guidelines for Management and Union Representatives\n## Checklist for Union and Management in a Transition Plan Meeting\n## Self-Advocacy While Transitioning\n## Sample Transition Plan\n# Obligations and Model Language\n## Trans Issues and the Law\n## Collective Agreement Model Language\n## Trans Issues Beyond the Workplace\n# Appendices","[{\"question\":\"Who is this handbook intended for in USW workplaces?\",\"answer\":\"It is designed for unionized workers and USW workplace parties, including members who may be transitioning, local executives and committee members, shop stewards, USW staff representatives, and employers as a general guide.\"},{\"question\":\"What topics are covered in a transition plan checklist?\",\"answer\":\"The handbook outlines key transition-plan elements such as agreeing to a process, objectives and privacy/confidentiality, identifying who needs to know, determining how much information to share, timing, updates to identification and documentation, and workplace adjustments like washrooms, changerooms, uniforms and dress codes.\"},{\"question\":\"What legal and collective bargaining materials does the handbook include?\",\"answer\":\"It summarizes obligations for employers, unions, and transitioning workers, and provides model language for collective agreements, including non-discrimination provisions and references to group benefit plan items and transition leave.\"}]","USW Transition Handbook - A Helpful Guide When Gender Transitioning in the Workplace | PDF",1789198878,13]
