Earlier this year The Urology Foundation held meetings with researchers, urology professionals, GPs and patients, to identify areas of need in UTI research. Some key priorities were agreed and we are particularly interested in projects which seek to address one or more of the following:
Research that builds on current knowledge and clinical practices in managing UTIs, for example (but not limited to):
Characterising the different groups of recurrent UTI (rUTI) patients, to identify similarities and differences to inform personalised care.
Building on existing data and projects to provide better evidence for treatments, including exploring the suitability of routine NHS data to study outcomes at scale.
Improving on the current, available treatments to maximise patient benefit, for example (but not limited to):
Identifying crossover or synergy between treatments, maximising effective use of existing antibiotics, where they are indicated, or looking at alternative treatments.
Symptom alleviation: the pain associated with severe and rUTIs can be distressing and there are few effective treatments available to counteract persistent pain.
Research into personalised treatments.
Improving diagnostics for example (but not limited to):
Work which seeks to pin down an agreed consensus on the definition of a UTI.
Improved understanding of the causes of UTIs.
Genetic or environmental predisposition to UTIs.
DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: 23:59 ON 14 MARCH 2025
LATE ENTRIES WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED\u000f
\u0003Contents
\u0013 TOC \\o "1-3" \\h \\z \\u \u0014\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc188967435" \u0014Application form and guidance \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc188967435 \\h \u00141\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc188967436" \u00141 Important information to note \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc188967436 \\h \u00143\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc188967437" \u00141.1 Review and feedback \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc188967437 \\h \u00143\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc188967438" \u00142 Your details \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc188967438 \\h \u00144\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc188967439" \u00143 Declaration & Agreement \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc188967439 \\h \u00146\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc188967440" \u00144 Your project \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc188967440 \\h \u00147\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc188967441" \u00145 Your project details \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc188967441 \\h \u00149\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc188967442" \u00146 Project funds requested \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc188967442 \\h \u001411\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc188967443" \u00146.1 Other Funders \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc188967443 \\h \u001411\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc188967444" \u00147 Additional documents needed \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc188967444 \\h \u001411\u0015\u0015
\u0015\u0004
\u000f
1 Important information to note
These instructions have been prepared to help you to complete your application.
