Please refrain from copying. Use them as inspiration! \nWhat would you say is your greatest talent or skill? How have you developed and demonstrated that talent overtime? \nEarlier in the school year, I gave a speech to the Porterville Chamber of Commerce. It was a room full of 40-50 representatives from various industries. As a Pathway Ambassador, I was there to explain the Porterville Unified School District Pathways programs. I could quickly speak to a cafeteria full of high school students, but uneasiness crept inside me when put in front of these adults. I commenced my speech by highlighting the program's qualities and how they have benefited me throughout my high school years. Halfway through my speech, I paused and voiced, \"I am sorry, everyone, but I am nervous.\" I felt relieved in the room, as if they understood my feeling. I finished my speech and exited the room. Before leaving, many representatives came up to me and told me I did fantastic. Even though I thought I did terribly, these community leaders and business owners made me feel much better. I was content with myself for making it through the entire speech and acquiring the mayor's business card, which reminded me to allow myself some grace. I redeemed myself a couple of months ago when I hosted an 8th-grade Pathways Showcase. I had to demystify what pathways are to 8th graders and what advantages they would gain. It was much more challenging than talking to adults. Adults pay attention, but middle schoolers are honest. If the speaker is boring, they will not pay attention. The presentation was 1 hour long, with videos to showcase the next pathway. In between videos, I asked the students if they had questions. It took many tries to get responses. I decided to incorporate my audience, and by the end of the presentation, I had the students enthusiastically repeating, \"Roll it!\" to signal the next pathway video. After that, I felt more comfortable speaking to large crowds of students and business leaders; state fright was no longer my foe. \nDescribe how you have taken advantage of a significant educational opportunity or worked to overcome an educational barrier you have faced. \nBeing part of the Porterville Academy of Health Sciences and doing internships with my local hospital and ambulance service has allowed me to develop skills critical to becoming a surgeon. Shadowing doctors and observing surgical operations have convinced me being a surgeon is my future aspiration. Recently I completed an internship with my local ambulance service, during which I experienced hands-on training and the circumstances paramedics and EMTs face. Being a part of an ambulance crew is emotionally overwhelming. This internship required me to be at the ambulance station at 7 in the morning. During my first hour, I helped my EMT ensure the ambulance was stocked with all the necessary medicine and supplies for the day. After that, the ambulance crews would all get breakfast, allotting me time to ask questions and learn about their lengthy shifts, lasting two to three days, affected their home life. Their stories intrigued me as I learned how they cope with the trauma of the job. They laugh it off, turning these hard sights into jokes. My first call was a code one, light and sirens. It was exhilarating being in that ambulance. When we arrived on the scene, I was surprised to see us at an empty lot next to a bridge. I asked the EMT what the call was, and she said a homeless man was calling about chest pains; he was under the bridge. I put on the jump bag and followed the crew. A man then guided us to a makeshift tent. Inside the tent was the man who was experiencing chest pains. I helped carry him on the gurney. Seeing the condition he lived in, I only felt sympathy for him. When entering the ambulance, the paramedic asked him when was the last time he's seen a do","cbCaicbq7wUVANcU","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaicbq7wUVANcU","pdf",57524,"English","# Personal Insight Questions (PIQs)\n## Greatest talent and how it was developed\n## Educational opportunities and overcoming educational barriers\n## Significant challenge and effects on academic achievement","[{\"question\":\"What do the UC PIQ examples emphasize about inspiration and originality?\",\"answer\":\"They are real examples used as inspiration, with a clear request not to copy the wording directly.
