The Centre acknowledges and is grateful for the generous contributions of all those who assisted with the 2022 refresh of the Australian Pro Bono Manual.\n\u000f\nTheory of change template\nA theory of change or a program logic model typically documents:\nProblem statement – the problem or need that the program seeks to address\nInputs – the various resourcing allocated to the program, such as funding, staff time, in-kind contributions, or partner expertise.\nActivities – the action components of a program, such as delivering workshops, running training sessions, or developing and distributing informational materials.\nOutputs – the products of the activities, such as number of workshops and sessions delivered and number of attendees, or number of materials developed and distributed.\nOutcomes – the intended goals of the program, which are usually split between:\nShort-term outcomes – these are the immediate impacts that occur directly after activities (e.g., the immediate change in stakeholders who attend a workshop – such as increases in knowledge, awareness, or confidence).\nIntermediate outcomes – slightly longer-term outcomes that occur only if the short-term outcomes have been achieved (e.g., the actions taken by stakeholders due to their increased knowledge or confidence).\nEnd-of-program outcomes – the ultimate outcomes anticipated to occur by the end of the program or funded period (e.g., what changes in behaviour are stakeholders expected to experience, or intended contributions to wider social impact).\nLong-term outcomes or wider goals – The end-of-program outcomes\nIt is also common to include any assumptions that underpin the theory of change. These assumptions can then be tested through the evaluation, or it can be a way of identifying risks in the program.
