This policy also forms part of the organisation’s approach to attracting and retaining employees by offering suitable working arrangements to help employees balance work and life commitments.
This policy is about empowering our managers and employees to exercise their Right to Disconnect and to generate realistic and practical expectations of how that right can be exercised in a hybrid and flexible working environment.
This policy is not contractual. It is not intended to override any enterprise agreement, or other workplace law (as amended or replaced). In the event of any inconsistency between this policy and an enterprise agreement, or workplace law (as amended or replaced), the latter will prevail.
Scope
This policy applies to all employees of <insert name of organisation>, whether they work full-time, part-time, or on a casual basis.
Definitions
Policy
<insert name of organisation> believes that employees should be able to have dedicated time to focus on their personal life and wellbeing. It is committed to enabling its employees to exercise their Right to Disconnect, unless their Refusal of Contact is Unreasonable.
For example, employees may need to be contacted in the event of an Emergency, or Genuine Welfare Matter. In these cases, as a courtesy, and in accordance with <insert name of organisation>’s duty of care owed to its employees, employees are asked to respond when practicable, even if via email or text, to confirm receipt of the message and so the organisation knows an employee is safe and well.
Requirements for Exercising the Right to Disconnect
Employees are expected to work their Normal Working Hours (including Reasonable Additional Hours where applicable) as detailed in their respective employment contract. Outside of these hours, employees have the Right to Disconnect (e.g. from work-related emails, calls, texts, and meetings).
There may be times where, by mutual agreement, employees need to be available outside of their Normal Working Hours. This could include providing coverage during peak periods or being on-call to meet business requirements. In these cases, Time Off in Lieu (TOIL), Overtime or an applicable On-call allowance may be applied, depending on the circumstances. These arrangements would be in writing and subject to organisational approval in advance.
Accessibility and Communication
Accessibility:
Employees must be contactable and available for communication with their manager, other relevant team members or clients during their Normal Working Hours.
Ou","cbCaij8gei7z7VB5","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaij8gei7z7VB5","docx",50641,10,"English","# Purpose
# Scope
# Definitions
# Policy
# Requirements for Exercising the Right to Disconnect
## Accessibility and Communication
# Manager’s Responsibilities
# Employee’s Responsibilities
## Employee wellbeing
# Further information on the Right to Disconnect
# Dispute resolution","[{"question":"What is the purpose of the Right to Disconnect policy?","answer":"The policy supports employees to exercise their Right to Disconnect at the end of normal working hours and helps balance work and life commitments.
