Recent data from PT X’s FPU operations indicate a significant decline in employee performance, with the performance index dropping from 85.0 in 2021 to 80.4 in 2023. This decline is accompanied by an increase in work fatigue and clinic visits, suggesting that factors s uch as workload and work stress are contributing to decreased employee performance. This study aims to explore the influence of workload and work stress on performance, mediated by work fatigue, among oil and gas employees at the Floating Production Unit. \nKeywords \nWorkload, Work Stress, Performance, Work Fatigue, Conceptual Model. \nINTRODUCTION \nThe upstream oil and gas industry plays a crucial role in the global economy and energy sustainability, serving as the initial stage in the energy supply chain. It is responsible for the exploration, drilling, production, and management of oil and gas resources (Dirjen Migas, 2018) . The industry is essential for ensuring a stable and reliable energy supply to various economic sectors, such as transportation, manufacturing, and households. Through exploration and drilling in resource-rich areas, the upstream oil and gas industry contributes to discovering and developing new oil and gas reserves, which are critical to meeting the world's ever-growing energy demands (Dirjen Migas, 2018) . \nFloating Production Units (FPUs) are integral to the oil and gas industry, particularly in offshore operations. FPUs are employed in challenging locations or deep waters where conventional platforms are impractical. They are designed to operate independently at sea, extracting, processing, and storing oil and gas (Latif & Pribadi, 2017) . Despite the advantages of FPUs, such as flexibility and mobility, they also face significant challenges, including harsh weather conditions and high operational costs. The performance of workers on FPUs is critical to maintaining safe and efficient operations. High levels of workload and work stress can lead to work fatigue, which in turn, negatively impacts performance (Latif & Pribadi, 2017) . \nRecent data from PT X’s FPU operations indicate a significant decline in employee performance, with the performance index dropping from 85.0 in 2021 to 80.4 in 2023. This decline is accompanied by an increase in work fatigue and clinic visits, suggesting that factors such as workload and work stress are contributing to decreased employee performance. High levels of work fatigue can reduce productivity and efficiency, as fatigued employees are more prone to errors and have decreased task completion abilities. Work stress further exacerbates these issues, leading to mental and physical health problems that impact \noverall performance. This study, therefore, aims to explore the influence of workload and work stress on performance, mediated by work fatigue, among oil and gas employees at the Floating Production Unit. \nLITERATURE REVIEW \nA. Workload \nWorkload is a critical concept in human resource management and organizational productivity. It refers to the amount of work that needs to be completed by a particular job or organizational unit within a specific timeframe. According to Permendagri (2008), workload is calculated by multiplying the volume of work by the standard time available to complete it. This concept underscores the importance of time management and efficiency in task completion.
