The charts are based on data from 50,000 healthy young dogs and are intended to be a standard for healthy growth. They have been scientifically developed in a similar manner to charts used to monitor the growth of children (e.g. the WHO growth standards), which are used by healthcare professionals around the world. As dogs come in a variety of shapes and sizes there are 10 charts comprising separate charts for male and female dogs in five size categories, valid for dogs up to a predicted adult weight of 40 kg. \nPuppy Growth Chart FEMALE Predicted adult bodLess than 6y weight5kg \nassessment of the puppy’s \ncentile line, and grtracks along the sh Dog’s Name: Dog’s Name: \ncenpuppylinespuppy)overtime. Please note that there is no ideal centile line, and growth can be considered normal provided that it tracks along the same centile line (or‘channels’ in between two centile lines) over time. \n􀁺 The 50th centile is not the goal for each puppy. \n􀁺 Likewise, the 99.6th centile is not the goal for each puppy. \nIncreases or decreases in growth beyond two centiles or a flat growth line (prior to reaching adult weight) are all signs of potential growth disturbances. \n􀁺 A growth rate that is too rapid resulting in a change in direction upwards across multiple centiles could indicate a risk of the puppy becoming overweight or obese. \n􀁺 Slow growth resulting in a change in direction downwards across multiple centiles could be a sign of failure-to-thrive. \nDog’s Name: \nD.O.B. Healthy weight for life starts with healthy growth in puppyhood. However, tracking healthy growth in puppies can be a challenge as it can be hard to know the correct weight for a puppy or how much weight he/she should be gaining between visits to the practice. Whilst body condition scoring can provide some guidance as to whether an individual is over-or underweight, it can be unreliable in puppies and young dogs. Furthermore, once early vaccinations are complete, puppies often do not visit the veterinary clinic again until either neutering or booster vaccination. This means that there is a long period during early life when a puppy’s growth is not assessed, and no veterinary guidance is given to owners. This is a crucial period in d","cbCaibb7dsgJsAUu","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaibb7dsgJsAUu","pdf",624358,"English","# What are the WALTHAM™ Puppy Growth Charts?\n# Why should I use WALTHAM™ Puppy Growth Charts?\n# How do I use the WALTHAM™ Puppy Growth Charts?","[{\"question\":\"What do the WALTHAM™ Puppy Growth Charts measure?\",\"answer\":\"They plot a puppy’s weight against age in weeks and use centile lines to show expected growth patterns for male and female dogs across size categories.\"},{\"question\":\"How should I interpret a puppy tracking along the same centile line over time?\",\"answer\":\"Tracking along the same centile (or within the channel between two centiles) over time can be considered normal, even though there is no single ideal centile line.\"},{\"question\":\"What growth patterns may indicate a problem?\",\"answer\":\"Growth beyond two centiles, a flat growth line before reaching adult weight, rapid upward crossing of multiple centiles, or slow downward crossing across multiple centiles can indicate potential growth disturbances.\"}]","The complete guide to Puppy Growth Charts - What are the WALTHAM™ Puppy Growth Charts? | PDF",1791843180]
