The guidance supports mentors in preparing for a 45-minute online review, asking expert questions, and helping trainees set new development goals. It also covers reflective impact statements, presentation preparation limits and format, key preparation and review windows, recording consent and sharing rules, and how outcomes are marked on Steplab as on track or off track for targeted support.","Termly Review Guidance for Mentors
\u0003Contents
\u0013 TOC \\o "1-3" \\h \\z \\u \u0014\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc85441116" \u0014Termly Reviews \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc85441116 \\h \u00141\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc85441117" \u0014Termly Review Summary \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc85441117 \\h \u00141\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc85441118" \u0014Review Point One \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc85441118 \\h \u00142\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc85441119" \u0014Reflective Impact Statements \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc85441119 \\h \u00142\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc85441120" \u0014Termly Review Dates \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc85441120 \\h \u00142\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc85441121" \u0014Suggested Termly Review Meeting Agenda \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc85441121 \\h \u00143\u0015\u0015
\u0015\u0004
Termly Reviews
Termly Reviews help us to understand trainee progress against the training programme curriculum. They are an important time for the trainee and their support roles to come together and formulate new development goals. As the mentor, your role during the Termly Review will be as a subject/phase expert. You will need to come to the review meeting ready to ask questions that will help the trainee to understand their progress in this area.
Termly Review Summary
Review Point One
The Termly Review meeting will take place online and will be approximately 45 minutes long. During their Termly Review, the trainee will present their progress against the four curriculum areas. The Development Lead and Mentor will ask questions about the trainee’s progress and will help to formulate their next development goals. During the review meeting trainees will also review the Core Content Framework and identify any areas which will be a particular focus in the coming weeks. A summary of the Termly Review will be recorded by the Development Lead on Steplab and trainees will have the opportunity to add their thoughts during the meeting. Their progress will be recorded after the meeting as either ‘on track’ or ‘off track’ by the development lead on Steplab. Any trainee who is ‘off track’ at the Termly Review will receive additional support in term two in addition to the normal interactions with their support roles.
The termly review meeting may be recorded where all parties consent to the recording. In these instances, the recording would be housed in Steplab to be shared between support roles and the trainee. If there are any requests to share the recording more widely than this group consent will be requested from all parties.
The documents needed to prepare for the presentation can be found on My Teach First. These are the Reflective Impact Statement and the presentation template.
Reflective Impact Statements
Trainees will complete a reflection task before each review to help them to explain the progress they have made against the Teach First Training Programme Curriculum. This will be a presentation.
Trainees should:
Prepare a presentation, no more than ten slides long, that shows progress in the four curriculum areas. They should discuss their presentation with their mentor;
Use a reflective model to support thinking What? So What? Now What?
This can be organised in bullet points;
Consider all learning so far on the training programme, from Summer Institute to the current time;
Use examples of teaching practice from Iris and StepLab (maximum of 1 Iris clip/ 1 pair of comparative clips for each of the 4 areas);
Consider the impact on the learning of the pupils they teach as a result of what they have learnt;
Between 1st and 5th Nov, email their presentation to their Development Lead;
After the 15th Nov, then also upload their presentation to the Termly Review on Steplab.
Mentors should:
Between 11th and 15th Oct, consult with the DL to discuss the trainee’s progress;
Discuss the trainee’s presentation with them as it is being prepared;
No earlier than 15th Nov but before the review meeting itself, review the trainee’s presentation formally on Steplab and add comments to the Steplab review.
Termly Review Dates
Suggested Termly Review Meeting Agenda","cbCainvTIpllgTuH","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCainvTIpllgTuH","docx",266394,4,"English","en",105,"# Termly Reviews
## Termly Review Summary
## Reflective Impact Statements
## Termly Review Dates
## Suggested Termly Review Meeting Agenda","[{"question":"What is the purpose of Termly Reviews for trainees and support roles?","answer":"Termly Reviews assess trainee progress against the training programme curriculum and create time for trainees and support roles to align and set new development goals."},{"question":"How long is the Termly Review meeting and what happens during it?","answer":"The online meeting is approximately 45 minutes.
