Customization focuses on updating school terminology and branding while enabling review and search-and-replace workflows.","Goals of this survey: The primary goal of this survey is to learn more about students’ experiences on the probation process. This information can then be used to improve communications and/or policies around the probation process at your institution. The survey first asks students open-ended questions about their probation experience and then questions about their emotional and behavioral response to being informed of their placement on probation. This survey template also includes questions that can be used to get feedback on both your school’s typical notification letter and draft version of the psychologically attuned letter, as well as student stories.\nPopulation: Because the goal of this survey is to better understand the probation experience of your students you will want to recruit students who have previously been placed on probation or the equivalent at your school. We recommend intentionally recruiting students with a variety of experiences in the probation process, such as students who went on to more severe statuses including suspension and dismissal, as well as students who returned to good academic standing.\nNumber of participants: In order to understand the range of students’ experiences of being on probation we recommend having approximately 100 students complete the survey. Based on our experience and because response rates can be low for this population, we recommend inviting 800-1,500 students to participate in the survey. To have 100 students complete the survey you will likely need to send reminder emails. If you are using Qualtrics you can easily make this update from within the survey by selecting the Tools > Review > Search and Replace and updating [SCHOOL NAME] to your institution’s name.\nThroughout the survey, we use the term academic probation or probation because it is the most common term used for students who are not making satisfactory academic progress. If you do not use the term \"academic probation\" at your school or are asking for feedback on a different academic status, replace \"academic probation\" and \"probation\" with the correct term throughout. We recommend using the \"search and replace\" feature to quickly update this throughout the survey.\nScroll through the survey and make the necessary customizations in the sections where you see [text in brackets].
