LOIs are competitive and reviewed by the AASM Foundation Executive Committee to ensure that the proposed research is responsive to the topic of interest listed in the Strategic Research Grant request for applications.  \nThe LOI should be no more than three pages (excluding references) . Importantly, between 40 to 60% ofCVD patients suffer comorbid obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), which further impairs cardiac function and worsens patient-relevant CVD outcomes 1-4. Although results have been mixed, evidence suggests that successful treatment of OSA can prevent future cardiovascular (CV) events, regardless of pre-existing CVD5,6 .
