They offer a logical framework to undertake a strategic planning process. The wide range of tools included is to ensure that both seasoned planners and those with limited strategic planning experience are able to tap into a variety of resources as they work through each step in the planning process. \nThe toolkit is designed to provide access to tools and templates that will support your planning. It is not intended as a new strategic planning process or a replacement of established strategy or planning approval processes in your faculty, portfolio or PSU. If you are already using established tools that are working, it is not necessary to switch to these. \nThe University of Sydney \n“Alice asked the Cheshire Cat, who was sitting in a tree,“What road do I take?” \nThe cat asked,“Where do you want to go?”“I don’t know,” Alice answered. \n“Then,” said the cat,“it really doesn’t matter, does it?” \n– Lewis Carroll, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland \nStrategy Toolkit \nThinking about strategy \nStrategy is how you get from your present state to your new destination. Strategy sets a plan that enables you to meet your objectives. \nA new strategy requires a change in the way you operate. \nWhy it is essential \nThe University of Sydney \nStrategy is important to any organisation because it brings focus to future goals and direction. It provides clarity and a time line for change and improvement. \nThe alternative to strategic planning is to just keep doing things the same way and hope for the best. However, leaving the future to chance is particularly risky; especially when the contextual environment is in constant flux and rapidly evolving. The lives and expectations of staff and students \nare changing, the future economy will be focused on new areas, technology","cbCairJleGZeoFiK","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCairJleGZeoFiK","pdf",1870771,45,"English","# Welcome to the strategic planning toolkit\n## Not sure where to start?\n# Section 1: Vision\n## Related tools\n## Strategy tree\n## Logic model\n## Strategy roadmaps\n# Section 2: Current state\n## Related tools\n## Data collection plan\n## SWOT analysis\n## PESTLE analysis\n## Research and Benchmarking\n## Fishbone Diagram\n# Section 3: Collective brainstorming\n## Related tools\n## Managing Discussions\n## Brainstorming Sessions\n# Section 4: Prioritising options\n## Related tools","[{\"question\":\"What is the purpose of the strategic planning toolkit for the University of Sydney?\",\"answer\":\"It provides access to a suite of tools, templates, and guides that support strategic planning processes in faculties or professional units.\"},{\"question\":\"Why is strategic planning considered essential for organisations?\",\"answer\":\"It creates focus on future goals and direction, provides clarity and a timeline for change and improvement, and reduces the risk of leaving the future to chance.\"},{\"question\":\"What makes strategic planning challenging according to the toolkit?\",\"answer\":\"There is no single perfect answer; strategies can be ambiguous, options include uncertainties, and multiple destinations often have multiple routes.\"}]","Strategic planning toolkit - V.1 - June 2016 | PDF",1789169395]
