Go to SSA.gov Click sign in at the top right.  \n2. You will then see the screen below. Click on “Create an account with [Login.gov](Login.gov).  \n3. On this screen, select create an account. Then you will enter the email address you  \nwish to use and accept the terms. (For couples, each person needs to have their own email address as you cannot create two accounts using the same email address)  \n4. You will then see this screen. You will now need to access your email.  \n5. You should receive an [email from login.gov. Once you open the email](email from login.gov. You will then be prompted to create a password that is at least 12 characters long.  \n**Please note that the email address used will be the user name to log in.  \n7. Text or voice message may be the easiest way to do this. Confirm they will have future access to this number.  \n8. Type in the phone number that you have access to and will have for the future. Select either text message or phone call to receive the one-time code.  \n9. Enter the code received on the next screen and click submit.  \n10. On the next screen you will see that they have added your first authentication  \nmethod. You can add a backup here and follow the steps needed or click skip for now.  \n11. You will then be sent to the next screen, and you will click on agree and continue.  \n12. On the next screen you will see the terms of service for using the account. You will scroll to the bottom of the screen to select agree and click next.  \n13. In the next screen you will be entering your information as requested.  \nEnter your name as it is shown on your SS Card as well. Enter your residential address and the phone number you have access to as you will be receiving another activation code.  \n14. You will then be asked how you want the activation code sent; either text or phone call.  \n15. Enter the activation code you receive.  \n16. You will then have the option to either take a photo of your ID (Driver’s license,  \nLearner’s permit, or State issued ID card) with a smartphone OR you can enter your ID AND provide one of the financial information that is listed (Credit card-last eight digits of a Visa, Mastercard or Discover card; Social Security Benefit Amount, W-2 tax form, or 1040 Schedule SE Tax Form) .  \n17.
