It explains how course credit and contact-hour requirements affect meeting length, including restrictions on specific graduate time blocks and reciprocal scheduling requirements across weekdays. It also sets department-level guidelines for equal distribution across time blocks, required reporting via a coversheet, exceptions for University Hour, limits for online offerings, hybrid scheduling to avoid unused rooms, once-a-week day course rules, constraints for non-standard weekly meeting minutes, and procedures for reserving classrooms for events after course assignments are finalized.",{"@graph":14,"@context":73},[15,34,56],{"@type":16,"itemListElement":17},"BreadcrumbList",[18,23,27,31],{"item":19,"name":20,"@type":21,"position":22},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",1,{"item":24,"name":25,"@type":21,"position":26},"https://docshare.wps.com/template/","Template",2,{"item":28,"name":29,"@type":21,"position":30},"https://docshare.wps.com/template/general/","General",3,{"item":32,"name":10,"@type":21,"position":33},"https://docshare.wps.com/template/standard-scheduling-blocks-and-scheduling-guidelines/393255/",4,{"url":32,"name":10,"@type":35,"image":36,"author":41,"headline":10,"publisher":44,"fileFormat":47,"inLanguage":8,"description":12,"dateModified":48,"datePublished":49,"encodingFormat":47,"isAccessibleForFree":50,"interactionStatistic":51},"DigitalDocument",{"url":37,"@type":38,"width":39,"height":40},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/standard-scheduling-blocks-and-scheduling-guidelines/393255.png","ImageObject",442,249,{"name":42,"@type":43},"Olivia Brown","Person",{"url":19,"name":45,"@type":46},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-11-03","2026-09-26",true,{"@type":52,"interactionType":53,"userInteractionCount":55},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":54},"ViewAction",9,{"@type":57,"mainEntity":58},"FAQPage",[59,65,69],{"name":60,"@type":61,"acceptedAnswer":62},"What are the standard day schedule time blocks and which weekday patterns do they apply to?","Question",{"text":63,"@type":64},"The document lists day blocks for MWF and for MW/TR/WF patterns, plus a shorter F/S arrangement. Some classes that have a built-in lab may also meet for a longer period of time. \n• The 5:55 PM to 8:35 PM time block may only be used by departments in the Graduate School whose students do not need to take any courses outside of their department. \n• Any Graduate School department offering a class on Monday from 5:55 PM to 8:35 PM must offer a class on Wednesday at that time. Those offering a class on Tuesday at 5:55 PM must also offer a class on Thursday in the 5:55 PM time block. \n• Graduate Departments utilizing the 5:55 PM time block will make a concerted effort to use the two-day per week time block from 4:30 PM to 5:45 PM, if possible. \nAdditional Course Scheduling Guidelines \nCourse Distribution: Each academic department must equally distribute the scheduling of their courses across all day and evening time blocks. Equal distribution of scheduling will move courses out of primetime blocks to avoid a shortage of classrooms and scheduling conflicts for students. When departments submit proposed course schedules to their Dean, they must also include a coversheet that summarizes their distribution of courses by start time and day(s) of the week. See Excel template for tracking course scheduling distribution. \nUniversity Hour: The University Hour block on T/R 3:05-4:20 has been suspended and classes may be scheduled during this block. A modified University Hour will be observed F 3:05-4:20, with only a limited number of courses being scheduled during this block. \nOnline Classes (including online-hybrid): Up to 40 undergraduate courses may be offered per fall/spring semester. \nHybrid Classes: Hybrid courses should be scheduled to complement classroom usage of traditional courses. For example, if a traditional course meets W/F 8:00-9:15 a hybrid course should be scheduled M 8:00-9:15 so that there is no unused classroom space throughout the M/W/F block. To avoid potential room scheduling conflicts during the final exam period, hybrid courses must hold online exams or schedule an exam period through the Registrar. \nOnce-a-week Day Classes: Daytime one day a week courses (excluding lab and studio courses) are to be scheduled on Friday or Saturday only. Hybrid courses are excluded from this restriction, as long as they are scheduled in a manner that complements another of the department’s course offerings as noted above. \nNon-Standard Course Meetings: Courses that meet between 151 to 225 minutes per week must use a M/W/F block. The additional meeting time can be absorbed in the existing schedule without overlapping to the subsequent block. Courses that meet for more than 225 minutes per week should consult with their Dean’s Office regarding sched","cbCaivqu8oqeQwxs","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaivqu8oqeQwxs","pdf",145153,"English","# Day Schedule\n# Undergraduate Evening Schedule\n# Graduate Evening Schedule\n# Additional Course Scheduling Guidelines\n## Course Distribution\n## University Hour\n## Online and Hybrid Classes\n## Once-a-week Day Classes\n## Non-Standard Course Meetings\n## Event Reservations in Classrooms","[{\"question\":\"What are the standard day schedule time blocks and which weekday patterns do they apply to?\",\"answer\":\"The document lists day blocks for MWF and for MW/TR/WF patterns, plus a shorter F/S arrangement.
