Capuano and Frank J. Stirlacci Sr. Community Service Scholarship Awards. Springfield UNICO will award $ 1,000 scholarships to both recipients. The awards will be given to deserving students who have made significant contributions in the way of service to their school and to the greater community. Please feel free to distribute this information to other school personnel who may wish to assist in the nomination process.  \nThe following are the criteria for nomination:  \n• The student must be a graduating senior, class of 2025, from a high school (public or private) located in the greater Springfield area;  \n• The student has been demonstrably active in providing volunteer service to their school and/or to the community at large while displaying character traits such as leadership, caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility;  \n• The student must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 ;  \n• The student must have an Italian surname or be able to demonstrate Italian heritage; and  \n• The student plans to attend a two year or four year accredited college or university.  \nPlease include the service to school and community criteria cited above in a Letter of Recommendation which may be written by a member of the school’s administration or by a leader of a community or civic organization.
