Michael Belz  \nDear Member:  \nSafe, Strong & Secure  \nIt is with great pride that I report that Catholic Life Insurance experienced another successful year in 2021. As Chief Financial Officer Colleen Berger details on pages 12–13, our assets, surplus, and reserves reached new record highs.  \nLike many businesses, our success was not without its challenges. Our death claims surpassed our 2020 claims by 69%, outpacing any other year in our history. More than 125 of those claims were COVID-19 related deaths. We were honored to serve their families in their time of need. Meanwhile, our sound financial practices allowed us to handle the increase in claims and still report a healthy bottom line.  \nRecognizing Sales Excellence  \nOur Sales Agents played a major role in our fueling our 2021 success. We honored the top agents during our annual Leaders’ Conference in late February. Please turn to page 14 to see who led the organization in helping families’ plan for their futures.  \nCommemorating 120 Years  \nIn June, we were honored to host the Angels Unawares sculpture at our headquarters property for six weeks. This tribute to immigrants harkened to the experience of our German-immigrant founders and was a fitting tribute to our 120th anniversary. In December, we welcomed a permanent reminder of our faith community when we installed a statue of Moses proclaiming the Ten Commandments. Please see page 10 to learn more about the Moses statue.  \nBranches in Action  \nWhile many of us curtailed our activities last year, our Branch Officers continued to make a difference in their local communities. As you will see beginning on page 18, our Officers gave generously to feed those in need.  \nIn closing, we wish you all a special Easter season.
