CONNECTIONS \nSUMMER 2025 \nDear SNRS Family, \n􀂧“Summer, summer, summertime…Time to sit back and unwind.” 􀂧 \nAs the sun stretches its golden arms across our southern skies and the sweet scent of magnolias fills the air, I find myself humming Will Smith’s classic anthem, “Summertime.” It’s a melody that evokes memories of backyard barbecues, laughter-filled gatherings, and those cherished moments when we allow ourselves to pause, breathe, and simply be. \nIn the spirit of this season, I invite each of you to embrace the essence of summer, not just as a change in weather, but as an opportunity for renewal, reflection, and rejuvenation. \nEmbracing the Pause \nCharleen McNeill \nPhD, MSN, RN President \nIn our relentless pursuit of knowledge and advancement in nursing research, it's easy to become ensnared in the whirlwind of deadlines, data analyses, and manuscript revisions. While our dedication is commendable, it's equally vital to recognize the importance of rest. Just as our bodies require sleep to function optimally, our minds and spirits need moments of stillness to flourish. \nThis summer, I encourage you to: \n Reconnect with Nature: Whether it's a walk in the park, a hike in the mountains, or simply sitting by a lake, nature has a profound way of grounding us. \n Indulge in a Good Book: Dive into that novel you've been meaning to read or explore literature outside your usual academic texts. \n Spend Quality Time with Loved Ones: Reignite connections with family and friends. Their support and love are the bedrocks upon which we build our professional lives \nRekindling the Flame of Passion \nRemember the moment you first felt the spark for nursing research? Published that very first article? Got that very first grant? That insatiable curiosity, the drive to make a difference, the desire to answer the unanswered questions? Summer offers the perfect backdrop to revisit that passion. \nReflect on: \n Your Achievements: Celebrate the milestones you've reached, no matter how small. Each step forward is a testament to your dedication. \n Your Aspirations: Reevaluate your goals. Are they still aligned with your values and passions? If not, consider charting a new course. \n Your Impact: Recognize the ripple effect of your work. Your research not only contributes to the academic community but also profoundly touches lives \nLooking Ahead with Renewed Energy \nAs we bask in summer's warmth, let's cast our gaze forward. The upcoming months hold promise and potential. With the SNRS community by your side, there's a wealth of opportunities awaiting exploration. \nStay engaged by: \n Participating in Webinars and Workshops: Enhance your skills and knowledge through our curated events. \n Collaborating with Peers: Forge new partnerships and collaborations that can lead to groundbreaking research. \n Mentoring Emerging Researchers: Share your wisdom and experiences with the next generation, fostering a culture of growth and support. \nA Heartfelt Thank You \nI want to express my deepest gratitude for your unwavering commitment to the Southern Nursing Research Society. Your contributions, both big and small, weave the rich tapestry of our community. Together, we advance the frontier of nursing research, championing innovations that improve health outcomes across our region and beyond. \nAs you navigate the joys of summer, may you find moments of peace, bursts of inspiration, and the gentle reminder that taking care of yourself is not a luxury—it's a necessity. \nHere's to a season of relaxation, reflection, and rekindled passion. \nWarm regards, \nCharleen McNeill, PhD, MSN, RN \nPresident, Southern Nursing Research Society \n40 YEARS OF BRINGING RESEARCHERS TOGETHER \nAUSTIN, TX \nCALL FOR NOMINATIONS \nCall for SNRS Board of Directors and Committee \nNominations for 2026-2028 \nSNRS is looking for strategically minded individuals who desire to become more involved with the organization.
