Be sure to share any relevant NWZAW \nhighlights/events/achievements on your socials \nNWZAW is a momentous and important week that is celebrated and acknowledged across the United States. It is important to share any acknowledgements your company or department of transportation (DOT) participate in to emphasize the importance of NWZAW and its message. \nFor example, during NWZAW 2025, Alabama, Arizona, Indiana, Michigan and host state North Carolina officially recognized this important safety initiative. Events such as these are important to amplify and share. \n2. Tag ATSSA and all relevant DOT/government agencies/safety associations in posts related to NWZAW to expand reach and visibility \nWhen posting for NWZAW initiatives/messages, be sure to tag ATSSA, related and relevant government agencies, DOTs and/or safety associations to increase the reach and visibility of your post. Some examples of government agency or other association accounts to tag include Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), National Safety Council (NSC), National Center for Rural Road Safety, etc. \nNote: Not all agencies and associations have accounts on every major social media platform. Be sure to check the relevant websites for social media platform links and handles. \n3. Utilize relevant NWZAW and related hashtags for optimized visibility \nSocial posts should include relevant and/or topical hashtags to optimize the visibility of your post. Hashtags now serve as contextual signals for AI-driven algorithms, not reach boosters, so hashtags should be directly tied to your post’s topic, context and audience interests to ensure clarity and resonance. Use 3-5 hashtags AT MOST when posting. Some platforms (i.e., X) penalize posts for hashtag stuffing with limited engagement. \nHashtag suggestions/ideas \nSome hashtags are specific to NWZAW events (i.e. , April 22 – Go Orange Day) while others are more general. \n\\#Orange4Safety \n\\#GoOrangeDay \n\\#NWZAW \n\\#NationalWorkZoneAwarenessWeek \n\\#SafeWorkZonesForAll \n\\#StandDown4Safety \n\\#DriveSafe \n\\#DriveSmart \n\\#TrafficSafety \n\\#RoadwaySafety \n4. Keep your social media messages short, engaging and include the event date with hashtags. \nBusinesses and brands are constantly competing for a user’s limited attention, so it is vital to keep your messages short, clever and engaging. If you are using a photo, make sure the photo is vibrant and eyecatching. Video is the preferred method on social media in 2026 so, if your team has the capacity to record short videos, focus your efforts and brief and engaging NWZAW and roadway safety content. Most videos should be 30-60 seconds long, if not shorter. \nSocial media is one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to share the message of roadway safety and the reminder that “Safe Actions Save Lives.” Encourage your teammates, employees, friends and family to like, comment and share the wonderful initiatives and events happening during National Work Zone Awareness Week 2026 to amplify the message of roadway and work zone safety.","cbCaisAQH3dAQx4G","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaisAQH3dAQx4G","pdf",280041,"English","# Overview\n# Tips & Tricks\n## Share highlights and acknowledgements\n## Tag ATSSA and relevant agencies\n## Use targeted NWZAW hashtags\n## Keep messages short and engaging with dates","[{\"question\":\"What is the theme and date range for NWZAW 2026 in this cheat sheet?\",\"answer\":\"The theme is “Safe actions save lives,” and the date range is April 20-24, 2026.\"},{\"question\":\"Which organizations should be tagged in NWZAW-related social posts?\",\"answer\":\"Tag ATSSA and relevant DOT/government agencies and safety associations related to NWZAW, and check platform handles since not all exist on every platform.\"},{\"question\":\"How should hashtags and post length be handled for best visibility?\",\"answer\":\"Use 3-5 relevant hashtags tied directly to the post’s topic and context, avoid hashtag stuffing, and keep messages short, engaging, and include the event date; prioritize brief videos when possible.\"}]","Social Media Cheat Sheet - Safe actions save lives - April 20-24, 2026 | PDF"]
