DVFA was founded in 1975 as non-profit with the mission statement to provide compassionate care for seniors with emphasis on fiduciary services, money management, wills, and health care. 1 hour free consultation.  \nThere is a fee for service, but DVFA will not turn a person away due to financial limitations. Services only in Central Contra Costa County.  \nDVFA also provides respite care 3 days a week (MWF) from 10:30-2:30 at Las Valley Oak Respite Center, in Danville (989 San Ramon Blvd.) Cost is $35.00 a day.  \nReview ofSMAC 2019 Accomplishments  \n􀁸 Deleted Senior Transportation Infographic and moved it to 2020 and then decided to keep it so we would have the information when advocating for Transportation Expenditure Plan.  \nReview of 2019 Goals:  \n􀁸 Deleted “work with Stanislaus County transportation to understand their Measure L more completely”  \n2020 Goals Added:  \n􀁸 Participate in Master Plan on Aging  \n􀁸 Educate public regarding CCC transportation situation and why we should be concerned to get this measure passed.  \n􀁸 Rosemary will capture data on DMV stats regarding people who stop driving or don’t renew license. 3 of 5 people will be 65+  \nOverview of Onward Transportation Services:  \nTechnology is not necessary to use service, need only a phone. Door thru Door service. Drivers are employees who have background check, car inspection, onboard training. Drivers have CPR and First Aid certification. $35.00 an hour with a one hour minimum. 50% of rides are in CCC. Provide 40-70 rides a week. March 2019 was 1st Onward ride.  \nMary asked for everyone to submit an article for the SMAC newsletter.  \nSMAC September 23, 2019 Minutes  \nShirley spoke about the need for legislation for compassionate choices.  \nCentral Contra Costa Coalition is being revived to provide networking opportunities to deal with current issues.  \nAlta Bates might be closing in West County.  \nSB 309 passed and protects the CSL indefinitely and will remain on CA tax form. CSL is now a part of the general state budget with $300,000 in funding.  \nPer Shirley Krohn: Even though the state level mental health administration position (AB480) had no opposition, the Senate Appropriations Committee pulled it. This is interpreted that there is a mental health crisis in California. Elaine Welch: We need to get away from diagnosis and look at the problems associated with the diagnosis and whether or not there is a support system for the person. Mobility Matters refers people with dementia to other services.  \nTransportation Infographic – We need to determine the narrative we want: What’s happening in Transportation; demographics; where we are falling short; proposed solutions. Need to know number of seniors that give up their driver’s license. We have 30 million drivers in California. 3 out of 5 are age 65 or over. There are 44 drivers who are age 90 to over 100.
