September 30,2024\n\nTo my Mayor,Leonard Vasquez, \nTo my City Council Aldermen-Alonzo Molina,Isaiah Garza,Chris Keeney, and Ronnie Rodriguez,And to my City Manager,Ryan Smith, \nI would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you,as well as this community, forallowing me to serve as a City HallEmployee for the last year.I came in with an open heart and openmind, ready and willing, even eager to go above and beyond for The City of Taft.It was agreat blessingto be a part of this team.I do have some regrets, the first being my abrupt transition into the financedepartment following an almost complete turnaround.I took on,what I believed to be a temporary roleas a finance clerk and was immediately expected to keep up with all the demands of the entiredepartment, while also continuing to work as a utility clerk, with very little staff, with little to noguidance, and with absolutely no training.Along the way,I have been hit with many obstacles andsurprises and have had to overcome and get through each on my own.I am grateful for supportivecoworkers and dedicated council. Please understand that Ihave given all of my time and attention to thiscity, making major sacrifices along the way.I have gained a great deal of knowledge and experience, when I started with none at all.Unfortunately,I am only one person, and the constant demands of thisposition, while also picking up in other departments and covering duties of the City Secretary havebecome too overwhelming. It has taken me a lot to realize what I′m sure we all know...am not theperson for this position. Not on my own,at least. Therefore,I am submitting this as my officialresignation letter, effective immediately,if you all will accept. \nIt is very important to me to point out that bringing Ryan Smith in as the City Manager was a greatdecision made by this council. He has finally brought accountability to this office.Something that hasbeen lacking, the entire timelhave been employed at City Hall.I am grateful for theguidance, leadership, and support that he has provided to all of us.It is his leadership that has helped me to realizethat I do not have the knowledge that the city deserves. He is what this City and employees need at thistime and going forward. You all should be able to rest easy knowing that he has taken charge and put hisintelligence and education to great use. \nCouncilman Molina-Iam so grateful foryour knowledge and dedication to city employees andconstituents of this town. \nCouncilman Garza-You brought in a new energy and a great deal of new insight,I enjoy hearing yourinput at each meeting. \nCouncilman Keeney-To be able to stay true to yourself and your beliefs while facing the scrutiny of thistown, and continue to do so meeting after meeting is a true dedication. You are awesome. \nCouncilman Rodriguez-Thank you for not giving up on your seat.I believe that shows a true love for thiscity. You waited patiently until your seat was returned to you and continue to fight for it through thisnext election. Most might have given up. \nMayor Vasquez-You came in to your new role at the same time as me.We both came in to a big mess.Your role is the most stressful,as everyone looks to you for answers and solutions.I can't imagine thestress that comes with being the mayor, while balancing a full timejob, family, volunteering with youthsports, and dealing with all that wehave since November 2023.I continue to support you in everyaspect. \nI will continue to be available for support and to answer any questions that may come up untill can bereplaced and even after that.I have made sure to leave all necessary log in information,as wellaspayment schedules and processes to ensure that operations can resume as usual.
