This sector is strong, broad and highly-regarded. This sector encompasses highly engaged Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities; influential national peak bodies which enable, value-add and support the sector including workforce peak bodies and the Lowitja Institute for research and knowledge transfer; primary health care service providers in diverse locations and active state and territory peak bodies.\nThis three-year Health Sector Strengthening Plan (Health-SSP) acknowledges and responds to the scope of key challenges for the sector. This Health-SSP provides 17 transformative sector strengthening actions.\nDeveloped through strong consultation across the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled health sector and other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health organisations, and through Parties signing the National Agreement on Closing the Gap, the Health-SSP is ready to be used including consideration of actions as appropriate for inclusion in future Closing the Gap Implementation Plans, acknowledging that jurisdictions need flexibility in their Implementation Plans to ensure alignment to existing strategic initiatives and policy reform using these existing strong foundations.\nWhile not designed to commit any specific party to resources or actions not already announced, this Health-SSP is offered as a resource to be used over the next three years to prioritise, partner and negotiate beneficial sector-strengthening strategies.
