It breaks down metric sizes such as 120/70-12 by width, aspect ratio, and rim diameter, including how aspect ratio affects ride comfort and handling. It also covers numeric sizes like 3.50-10 by tire width and rim diameter, then addresses small electric and recreational scooters where tire sizing is inconsistent. It recommends matching the installed tire size and lists several typical small tire sizes.",{"@graph":63,"@context":119},[64,80,102],{"@type":65,"itemListElement":66},"BreadcrumbList",[67,71,74,77],{"item":68,"name":69,"@type":70,"position":9},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":72,"name":10,"@type":70,"position":73},"https://docshare.wps.com/template/",2,{"item":75,"name":51,"@type":70,"position":76},"https://docshare.wps.com/template/general/",3,{"item":78,"name":59,"@type":70,"position":79},"https://docshare.wps.com/template/scooter-tire-sizing-guide/565610/",4,{"url":78,"name":59,"@type":81,"image":82,"author":87,"headline":59,"publisher":90,"fileFormat":93,"inLanguage":57,"description":61,"dateModified":94,"datePublished":95,"encodingFormat":93,"isAccessibleForFree":96,"interactionStatistic":97},"DigitalDocument",{"url":83,"@type":84,"width":85,"height":86},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/scooter-tire-sizing-guide/565610.png","ImageObject",442,249,{"name":88,"@type":89},"\tCallum ","Person",{"url":68,"name":91,"@type":92},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-10-28","2026-10-13",true,{"@type":98,"interactionType":99,"userInteractionCount":101},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":100},"ViewAction",9,{"@type":103,"mainEntity":104},"FAQPage",[105,111,115],{"name":106,"@type":107,"acceptedAnswer":108},"How do you interpret a metric scooter tire size like 120/70-12?","Question",{"text":109,"@type":110},"120 is the tire width in millimeters, 70 is the aspect ratio (height as a percentage of width), and 12 is the rim diameter in inches the tire mounts onto.","Answer",{"name":112,"@type":107,"acceptedAnswer":113},"What does the aspect ratio number mean for ride and handling?",{"text":114,"@type":110},"An aspect ratio of 70 means the tire height is 70% of its width. This always refers to the measurement from sidewall to sidewall. \nAfter the slash mark, the number you see (70) is for the tire’s aspect ratio. This number tells you how tall your tire’s profile is in a percentage. The aspect ratio is calculated by dividing a tire’s height off the rim by its width. If a tire has an aspect ratio of 70, it means that the tire’s height is 70% of its width. Lower aspect ratios generally offer vehicle handling performance advantages over higher aspect ratio tires but the tradeoff is a harsher ride. \nThe last number after the dash (12) is the diameter, in inches, of the rim onto which the tire can be mounted. The tire size that we are using for our example would fit a 12 inch rim. \nNumeric Tire Sizes \nExample: 3.50-10 \nThe first number (3 .50) is the tire width in inches. In most cases, this will also indicate that the profile of the tire (sidewall) is 3.50 inches too. \nThe second number (10) is the rim diameter in inches. \nSmall Electric Scooter and Recreational Scooter Tire Sizes \nThere is no standardization for small electric scooter and toy/recreational tire sizes. You can find a mix of the above tire sizing rules applied to these small sizes. Some sizing is in millimeters while some is in inches. Due to this inconsistency, it is best to make sure that you order the same size that is on that currently installed tire. Some common small scooter sizes are as follows: \n• 200x50: 200 is the outer diameter in millimeters and 50 is the width in millimeters \n• 3.00-4: 3.00 is the sidewall height in inches and 4 is both the rim size and the tire width in inches \n• 9x3.50-4: 9 is the outer diameter, 3.50 is the width and 4 is the rim size all in inches \n• 12 ½ x 2 ¼: 12 ½ is the outer diameter in inches and 2 ¼ is the width in inches \n[Information provided by and courtesy of](Information provided by and courtesy of www.partsforscooters.com)[ ](Information provided by and courtesy of www.partsforscooters.com)[www.partsforscooters.com](Information provided by and courtesy of www.partsforscooters.com)","cbCaijCGAnbUEvTO","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaijCGAnbUEvTO","pdf",239564,"English","# Metric Tire Sizes\n## Numeric Tire Sizes\n# Small Electric Scooter and Recreational Scooter Tire Sizes","[{\"question\":\"How do you interpret a metric scooter tire size like 120/70-12?\",\"answer\":\"120 is the tire width in millimeters, 70 is the aspect ratio (height as a percentage of width), and 12 is the rim diameter in inches the tire mounts onto.\"},{\"question\":\"What does the aspect ratio number mean for ride and handling?\",\"answer\":\"An aspect ratio of 70 means the tire height is 70% of its width.
