Despite the burden, I want to continue to care for him/her at home. Medicaid could help, but Medicaid home care is so under-funded that 800,000 people around the country currently are on waiting lists to receive it, even though they meet the program’s stringent medical and financial eligibility requirements. \nHome care also saves the Federal government money compared with the alternative of a Medicaid-covered nursing home bed. Many family caregivers have no choice but to place their loved one in a nursing home due to inadequate funding for Medicaid home care. \nSenate action on increased funding for Medicaid home care is badly needed. The House of Representatives voted in 2021 to provide $150 billion in additional funding for Medicaid home care over the next ten years. These funds would go along way toward reducing home care waiting lists. When will the Senate follow suit and pass a similar increase? \nNot only is this the right thing to do, but surveys show that increased funding for home care is very popular with the American public, across the political spectrum. \nThank you for considering my views on this important matter. \nSincerely,","cbCaitkvnWPvvwsM","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaitkvnWPvvwsM","pdf",75235,"English","# Sample Email (or Letter) to Your Senator on Medicaid Home Care\n## Key Caregiver Challenges\n## Need for Increased Funding\n## Request to the Senate","[{\"question\":\"Why does the letter ask the senator to increase Medicaid home care funding?\",\"answer\":\"Because Medicaid home care is under-funded, leaving hundreds of thousands on waiting lists even when they meet strict medical and financial eligibility requirements.\"},{\"question\":\"What burden does the caregiver describe in the letter?\",\"answer\":\"Providing home care for a chronically ill or disabled spouse/partner is presented as difficult and placing a huge burden on the caregiver, the family, and the caregiver’s loved one.\"},{\"question\":\"How does the letter argue that home care can be more cost-effective?\",\"answer\":\"It states that home care saves the federal government money compared with placing someone in a Medicaid-covered nursing home.\"}]","Sample Email (or Letter) to Your Senator on Medicaid Home Care - Request for Increased Funding | PDF",1789565332]
