They ensure alignment with the Service’s strategic vision and objectives and ensure the governance arrangements in respect of risk management and business continuity meet all regulatory requirements.\u003Cbr>The post holder will provide a professional approach to risk management and business continuity to ensure that risk management is effective and integrated into strategic decision-making, drive up standards and, play a key role in implementing a service wide resilience culture. |\n\n\n| DIMENSIONS OF THE ROLE: The key statistics associated with the role |\n| --- |\n| Financial (direct or non-direct):\u003Cbr>• Directly responsible for the management of the Risk Management & Business Continuity budget (c. £160,000 per annum of which 90% is salaries and on-costs)\u003Cbr>Staff responsibilities (direct or non-direct):\u003Cbr>• One direct report (Business Continuity Officer)\u003Cbr>• Working with staff across the service to ensure Business Continuity arrangements are in place |\n\n\n| PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: What the role is accountable for and required to deliver |\n| --- |\n| Risk Management:\u003Cbr>• Lead the management and delivery of the Service’s risk management approach in alignment with the Community Risk Management Plan, ensuring the governance arrangements in respect of risk management meet all the regulatory requirements.\u003Cbr>• Produce and update the Service’s Risk Policy and Risk Management Framework to enable departments to manage their risks and support effective decision making and prioritisation; review the risk management framework each year, gathering and taking into account feedback from stakeholders, to continually improve the effectiveness of the framework.\u003Cbr>• Maintain the strategic risk register and lead on the production of quarterly updates to the strategic risk register and draft/present papers and reports to Fire Authority and Committee meetings.\u003Cbr>• To lead on the analysis of the external operating environment (e.g. using PESTEL factors) and advising on the implications of any changes to the management of risk in the community and corporate risk\u003Cbr>• Work alongside key stakeholders to support the ongoing maintenance of directorate and team-level risk registers.\u003Cbr>• Ensure that the strategic risk register is actively engaged with by senior staff and colleagues across the service and used as a source of insight and information.\u003Cbr>• Manage the regular review of risk appetite with the Strategic Leadership team and ensure it is used to drive alignment in risk-based decisions and actions across the Service.\u003Cbr>• Lead a programme of risk assurance work to review and challenge individual risks on the strategic and directorate risk registers;
