The introduction of the RSD should provide an overview of the entire RSD.
This RSD is provided as a starting point to assist you in the process of designing the structure of your specification document. The required contents of documents vary across the many segments of the software industry. This is evident in the existence of several different standards applied by agencies such as the Department of Defense and organizations that publish specification standards, such as American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)...
The RSD is a Word template that provides Development Teams a high-level look at the specifications for a project. The RSD is generally written by the functional analyst(s) and should provide the bulk of source information used to create the test plan and test scripts.
Use the instructions located in Appendix A of this template to help create your RSD. Delete this section above prior to submission.
Please Review Carefully: The level of detail contained within this RSD should be consistent with the size of the project. Filling out every section of this document is unnecessary if it is not applicable to your project. The resources necessary to create and maintain this document during the lifecycle of a large project should be acknowledged and clearly reflected in project schedules.
Remove the appendix help section information prior to submitting this document for approval.
Use this procedure to remove the unwanted links to the appendix after completing the Requirements Specification Document template. These instructions are for Microsoft Word 2003.
Click Edit ( Replace
In the Find and Replace window that appears, click the More button.
Click Format and select Style from the drop-down list.
In the Find Style Window, select CrossReference and click OK.
Click Replace All.
Repeat the procedure except search for CrossReference2.
This will remove any line using the CrossReference paragraph style so use this technique with extreme caution as it can cause unintended results. You can also manually delete the lines if you wish.
Revision History
The revision history cycle begins once changes or enhancements are requested to an approved RSD.
\u0013HYPERLINK \\l "RevisionHistory2"\u0014Instructions in Section\u0015 \u0013 REF _Ref251266792 \\h \\r \u0014A.1\u0015
Table of Contents
\u0013 TOC \\h \\z "Heading 1,1,Heading 2,2,Heading 3,3,Appendix 1,1,Appendix 1.1,2" \u0014\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc251596836" \u00141. Introduction \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc251596836 \\h \u00141\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc251596837" \u00141.1. Purpose \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc251596837 \\h \u00141\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc251596838" \u00141.2. Scope \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc251596838 \\h \u00141\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc251596839" \u00141.3. Acronyms and Definitions \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc251596839 \\h \u00141\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc251596840" \u00141.3.1. Acronyms \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc251596840 \\h \u00141\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc251596841" \u00141.3.2. Definitions \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc251596841 \\h \u00141\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc251596842" \u00141.4. References \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc251596842 \\h \u00141\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc251596843" \u00142. Overall Specifications \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc251596843 \\h \u00142\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc251596844" \u00142.1. Accessibility Specifications \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc251596844 \\h \u00142\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc251596845" \u00142.2. Business Rules Specifications \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc251596845 \\h \u00142\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc251596846" \u00142.3. Design Constraints Specifications \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc251596846 \\h \u00142\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc251596847" \u00142.4. Disaster Recovery Specifications \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc251596847 \\h \u00142\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc251596848" \u00142.5. Documentation Specifications \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc251596848 \\h \u00142\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc251596849" \u00142.6. Functional Specifications \u0013 PAGEREF _Toc251596849 \\h \u00142\u0015\u0015
\u0013 HYPERLINK \\l "_Toc251596850" \u00142.7. Graph","cbCaivXdlQhKjdJn","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaivXdlQhKjdJn","doc",372224,22,"English","# Introduction
## Purpose
## Scope
## Acronyms and Definitions
## References
# Overall Specifications
## Accessibility Specifications
## Business Rules Specifications
## Design Constraints Specifications
## Disaster Recovery Specifications
## Documentation Specifications
## Functional Specifications
## Graphical User Interface (GUI) Specifications
## Multi-Divisional Specifications
## Performance Specifications
## Quality Attributes Specifications
## Reliability Specifications
## Scope of Integration
## Security Specifications
## System Features
## Usability Specifications
# Applicable Standards
# Interfaces
## Communications Interfaces
## Hardware Interfaces
## Software Interfaces
## User Interfaces
# Legal, Copyright, and Other Notices
# Purchased Components
# User Class Characteristics
# Estimation
# Attachment A - Approval Signatures
# Help Text","[{"question":"What is the purpose of the Requirements Specification Document (RSD) introduction?","answer":"The introduction records the outcomes of requirements-gathering during the requirements phase and provides an overview of the entire RSD."},{"question":"Who typically writes most of the source information used for testing artifacts?","answer":"Functional analyst(s) generally write the RSD, and it should contain the bulk of source information used to create the test plan and test scripts."},{"question":"How should teams decide how detailed to make the RSD?","answer":"The level of detail should match the project size; filling every section is unnecessary when it does not apply, and the required effort should be reflected in project schedules."}]","Requirements Specification Document - Template - project introduction and ToC guide | DOC",1788329996,8]
