After the taste testing and review of the bids, a recommendation will be made for the bid award. Vendors will be contacted with the results of the bid award as soon as possible after June 11, 2018. \nSPECIFICATIONS AND INFORMATION \nA. PRODUCT INSPECTION \nThe State Department of Health or any authorized representative of the local Department of Health or of Dexter Community Schools shall have the right to inspect the premises, facilities and methods on any pizza or product delivered to determine whether or not the contract is being properly performed. \nB. PRODUCT SPECIFICATION \nAll products must be produced under State of Michigan code provisions. \nA formulation statement that certifies that the product meets the Grain and \nMeat/Meat Alternate requirements for school meals must be provided. \nSamples are to be provided when requested by the authorized school official. \nBids are to be submitted on the following product specification (for each serving) : \n1. 14” Round Cheese and Pepperoni (or equivalent if square) \n2. Cut evenly into 8 slices in order to provide required meal components to meet USDA guidelines. \n3. Dexter Community Schools and WISD have applied for a whole grain waiver for SY 2018-19 so we would like information on both a whole grain and traditional crust that meet USDA guidelines. \nFor the duration of the contract all pizzas are to be supplied with even slices; a multiblade rocker pizza cutter is preferred for cutting the pizzas into uniform slices. \nCare shall be taken to avoid over and under-cooking the pizzas to maintain an appetizing appearance, good flavor, taste and texture. Pizzas that arrive not in a proper state of freshness, not well prepared or have unevenly cut slices may be rejected in whole or part. In that event, a credit will be given for the rejected portion of the product. \nC. DELIVERY SPECIFICATIONS \nAbility to deliver to all buildings is required on the specified serving day 20-30 minutes prior to each lunchtime. Exact daily per lunch quantities to be determined. \nWe anticipate an approximate volume of 9,800 pizzas for the 2018-19 school year, based on past usage. \nThe location and delivery days are as follows: \n1. Bates Elementary-Tuesday \n2. Cornerstone Elementary-Tuesday \n3. Wylie Elementary-Tuesday \n4. Creekside Intermediate-Wednesday \n5. High Point School (WISD) -Wednesday \n6. Mill Creek Middle School -Thursday \n7. Dexter High School – Thursday \nDue to school schedule adjustments (ex. testing), there may be a requirement to alter the normal delivery time on a few specific days throughout the year. Because of the inflexible nature of student service times, if there is a concern about delivery times the vendor must contact Dexter Community Schools Food & Nutrition administration to coordinate an alternate schedule at least 1 hour prior to delivery.
