In many cases, expanding the locations from which employees can contribute can benefit all Sheridan stakeholders. Through the structure outlined in this policy, Sheridan intends to improve the employee and student experience in the following ways: \n• Improve employee satisfaction, retention, and attraction \n• Reduce barriers to workplace participation in support of Sheridan’s Statement of Commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion \n• Support the Campus Wellness Strategy through improved employee well-being \n• Support the Campus Master Plan through enhanced space utilization \n• Support Missions Zero and reduce Sheridan’s environmental footprint \nScope \nThis Protocol applies to all employees occupying non-teaching positions. Employees who separately occupy teaching and non-teaching positions are eligible for consideration under this Protocol for their non-teaching position(s) only. \nThis Protocol does not alter or replace the terms of an existing employment contract or collective agreement. \nThis Protocol does not apply to circumstances where an employee is working remotely as part of an Accommodation Plan under the Return to Work Policy or the Workplace Accommodation Policy. \nDefinitions: \n“Remote Work” is duties and responsibilities performed off-site at a location chosen by the employee and approved by Sheridan \n“Remote Work Location” is a site chosen by an employee and approved by Sheridan at which an employee performs some or all their duties and responsibilities. \nProtocol \n4.1. Principles \nRemote work is intended to contribute to a flexible employee experience which can be tailored on a case-by-case basis. However, the following principles shall be always applicable: \n• Expanding the places from which employees can contribute will enhance our service to students and students will always be Sheridan’s first priority. \n• Providing a comprehensive suite of on-campus support and resources remains critical to our fundamental goal of providing ground-breaking education. The oncampus experience will always be central to Sheridan and the exceptional value we provide to students. \n• Sheridan’s remote work practices will power realization of our Strategic Plan. \nRemote working arrangements will complement Sheridan’s priority areas of impact and strategic enablers and support our shared organizational goals. \n• We will create an equitable employee experience whenever possible. Remote working won’t be applicable in every circumstance, but Sheridan will leverage telecommuting to increase workplace accessibility and empower employees to succeed on-campus or virtually. \n• An effective remote work experience is a mutual responsibility between employees and Sheridan. Shared trust, accountability and a commitment to achieving our shared goals and assigned outcomes will ensure that remote working is sustainable and successful. \n4.2 It is expected that remote working will be a significant aspect of the Sheridan experience for many employees and that it will be implemented collaboratively by managers with their employees. However, the location at which work is performed will remain the purview of Sheridan and such authority will be exercised reasonably. An exception will apply only if the remote working agreement or arrangement is part of the employment agreement at time of hire. \n4.3 Employees must comply with all Sheridan policies regardless of where they are working. \n4.4 Occupational Health and Safety \n4.4.1 The employee is responsible for ensuring that the remote work location is safe for the purposes of work and in compliance with occupational health and sa","cbCailG50E383OZh","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCailG50E383OZh","pdf",178651,9,"English","# Purpose\n# Scope\n# Definitions\n# Protocol\n## Principles\n## Occupational Health and Safety\n## Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion\n## Remote Work Location","[{\"question\":\"Who does the Remote Work Protocol apply to at Sheridan?\",\"answer\":\"It applies to all employees in non-teaching positions.
