Each year, teachers would copy the document and both their coach and attached school leader would have access . The template was kept as brief and succinct as possible, while an online handbook provided further guidance, including a list of resources for each component. Coaches would receive early access and a chance for questions, so they were well prepared to guide their assigned teachers. \nPhase 1: Inquiry \nAt the start of the cycle, the teacher looks for and reflects on feedback from students, supervisors, and peers, and then completes a self-assessment. Together with their coach, the teacher formulates appropriate inquiry goals based on the performance standards and plans for learning. \nOpening Your Blind Spot \nWe all have our own viewpoint and, therefore, may have blind spots about others. The following questions should prompt you into an inquiry that expands your awareness by bringing in other perspectives or illuminating obscured aspects of your effectiveness in your role. \nWhat conclusions did you draw from the feedback from your last pathway? What goals did your coach formulate for you? \nHow did you collect student feedback? What does this feedback say? \nHow did you collect supervisor feedback? What does it tell you? \nRate yourself against each of the performance standards. \nWhat conclusions did you draw from your analysis of the above sources of information? \npage 2 of 6 \nCulture Keepers © 2025 Solution Tree Press • [SolutionTree.com](SolutionTree.com) \n[Visit](Visit go.SolutionTree.com/schoolimprovement)[ go.SolutionTree.com/schoolimprovement](Visit go.SolutionTree.com/schoolimprovement) to download this free reproducible. \nREPRODUCIBLE \nFormulating Your Goals \nSet at least two annual goals for growing your personal practice and improving student achievement and well-being. \n1. Stretch or extension goal (required): One goal should be in an area that you are already well-versed in. A stretch goal is a target set above the expected level of accomplished. Stretch goals increase your chances of being successful. They also help you keep developing in areas where you excel. Stretch goals are meant to be uncomfortable because growth happens on the edge of discomfort. \n2. Growth goal (required): The second goal should be in an area others have recommended for further development or suggested by data. Through analyzing your blind spot and seeking feedback, you are more likely to think outside of the box, engage with new ideas, and explore new practices and strategies. Growth goals are meant to be uncomfortable because growth happens on the edge of discomfort. \nFormat of goals: \nWhen formulating goals, it is key to focus on developing your practice and being confident that will improve student learning rather than completing a task. \n\n| Professional\u003Cbr>Development Goals | Specify the Applicable\u003Cbr>Performance Standard |\n| --- | --- |\n| | |\n| | |\n| | |\n\nEnd of Inquiry Phase Feedback \nThe coach provides formative feedback on your progress here . \nPhase 2: Action Plan \nPhase 2 begins with you inquiring into the learning you need and considering ways you can implement the learning, including the choices you have and what would demonstrate effective growth. You then execute the resulting plan of action and implement strategies.
