Purpose \nThis Procedure outlines the framework pertaining to Safety in Design (SID) principles and techniques applied during the delivery phases of all Unitywater projects. \nThis Procedure has been developed to assist Contractors and Unitywater persons with the continuous improvement of all SID processes, by: \n• A more integrative approach to SID, as depicted in Figure 1 below. For guidance on implementation of early hazard prevention strategies for design, i.e. finally towards more efficient SID delivery. \n• To meet the minimum regulatory obligations relating to safe design, in terms of the given Unitywater WUC requirements. For guidance on the selection of appropriate design review techniques, towards more effective SID delivery. \nNote: This Procedure reflects Unitywater’s minimum expectations and any additional SID processes, which may be required by local legislation or practice, must also be complied with. \nSafety in Design Procedure Pr8187 \nFigure 1 : Integrated application of Safety in Design \n2. Scope \nThis procedure shall apply to works to be constructed by contract, sub-contract or direct labour. \nThis procedure shall apply to works being constructed directly for Unitywater or other authority or for an owner/developer who will hand over the ownership of the constructed works to Unitywater or who will retain ownership. \nThis procedure shall be read in conjunction with the reporting templates and the SID Guidelines ( Pr10883) . \nPrinted copies are uncontrolled. \nPage 3 of 29 \nDocument No: Pr8187 \nRevision No: 18 \nLast Review Date: 30/06/2026 \nNext Review Date: 30/06/2028 \nPr8187-Safety in Design Procedure \n3.
