Health services must disseminate the allocation and application process to all hospitals within their network/region.  \nFor 2015-16 , postgraduate nursing and midwifery scholarships will be valued at $4000 for each general scholarship and targeted oncology nursing scholarships.  \nThe scholarship program assumes a shared-cost model where the individual, the department and the employers all contribute to the cost of undertaking the studies. The department provides scholarships to offset costs including tuition fees and other related study costs.  \nHealth services must use their scholarships allocation to address their local or sector-wide workforce shortages, projected demand in targeted areas of clinical practice, or to align with workforce requirements for the capital projects that are currently occurring or planned.  \nEligibility  \nHealth service eligibility  \nAll public hospitals, metropolitan health services and multipurpose services identified in schedules 1,2,3,4 and 5 of the Health Services Act 1998, are eligible for allocation.  \nScholarship recipients eligibility  \nEligible applicants must fulfill all of the following requirements:  \n􀁸 be a currently registered nurse or midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia  \n􀁸 hold Australian citizenship, permanent residency or New Zealand citizenship  \n􀁸 be employed (or seeking employment) in an eligible Victorian public health service  \n􀁸 be enrolled in semester one , 2016 in an eligible postgraduate program that leads to a tertiary qualification in one of the practice areas identified by the health service/department region  \n􀁸 not already hold an award qualification in the practice area for which the scholarship is sought  \n􀁸 have not previously received a department scholarship to study in the practice area for which the scholarship is sought  \n􀁸 be prepared to complete the course and then work in the area of study for the equivalent of one year full-time.  \nCourse eligibility  \nEligible postgraduate courses must:  \n􀁸 be delivered by a university or accredited higher education provider  \n􀁸 lead to an award qualification (or exit point) at postgraduate certificate or diploma level  \n􀁸 include clinical nursing practice related to area of study.  \nDetermining local priorities for scholarships  \nHealth services are accountable for determining the areas of practice in which they wish to provide scholarships.
