H. Huckelberry \nPima County Board of Supervisors County Administrator \nPresiding Judge, Superior Court \nElected Officials \nAppointing Authorities \nRe: Pima County Department Continuity of Operations Planning \nContinuity of operations should be part of every organization’s fundamental mission . Today’s changing threat environment has increased the need for continuity capabilities and plans at all levels of government. Continuity planning ensures continued operations of essential functions during an emergency event. The continuity plan prepares departments and their personnel for the possibility of relocating and being operational within 12 hours of continuity activation . \nAs Elected Officials or Department Directors, you play a key role in protecting employees’ health and safety, as well as limiting the negative impact to the county’s ability to conduct and continue business operations in the event of an emergency. This is why I have tasked the Pima County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) to develop a Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP) Template and Toolkit. \nEach department, being the experts in their field, are responsible for writing their own COOP plan . The COOP Template is a step-by-step planning guide that can be utilized by department’s staff to develop or update their COOP plan . OEM staff can provide guidance as your departments create, maintain, test and evaluate your COOP plans . \nPlease submit a copy of your current COOP Plan to the Pima County Office of Emergency Management by January 14, 2019. If you do not have a COOP plan, please use the COOP Template and Toolkit to develop a COOP plan for your department. These plans may be emailed to [oemhs@pima.gov](oemhs@pima.gov). \nShould you have any questions about the completion of this plan, you may contact the OEM staff at 724-9300. \nCHH/mp \nAttachments \nCONTINUITY OF OPERATIONS PLAN TEMPLATE \nInsert your department’s logo here. \nContinuity of Operations (COOP) Plan For Pima County \nPima County [Department, Office Name][Month, Day, Year] \nPima County [Department, Office Name] \n[Street Address] \n[City, State Zip Code] \nThe [Department Name] Continuity of Operations Plan is led by the [Continuity Division/Department, if applicable] .
