We ensure that all members of school staff (including supply teachers and support staff)who encounter pupils or staff with PEEPs know what todo in the event of an emergency evacuation. \nBackground and aims \nThe aim of the Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) Policy is to advise Hewens Primary staff of the process of personal evacuation and instructions on how to prepare individual Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan’s (PEEP) . \nA PEEP may be required for anyone who has any form of disability (including Sensory Impairment) or for those whose mobility may be impaired for a temporary period of time. It specifically includes those who cannot be adequately protected by the Trust’s standard fire safety provisions, with a similar level of safety from the effects of fire and/or emergency evacuation as all other occupants. \nThe aim of a PEEP is to provide pupils, staff, visitors and contractors who cannot get themselves out of the building unaided, with the necessary information and assistance to be able to manage their escape to a place of safety and to ensure that the correct level of assistance is always available. \nResponsibilities \nThe Headteacher, should identify persons who may need additional help evacuating from the School site in the event of an emergency and ensure they are offered suitable practical assistance. However, the aim should be to facilitate independent escape wherever possible. For pupils, staff, contractors and regular visitors, once it has been identified that a person would require assistance in the event of an emergency a PEEP should be completed, and the individual’s needs determined from the information supplied. \nKey Roles and Responsibilities \nThe Headteacher has a responsibility to: \n➢ Ensure the health and safety of staff and pupils on the School premises and when taking part in school activities. \n➢ Ensure that the PEEP Policy, as written, does not discriminate on any grounds, including, but not limited to: age, ethnicity/national origin, culture, religion, gender, disability or sexual orientation. \n➢ Handle complaints regarding this policy as outlined in the Trust’s Complaints Policy. \n➢ Ensure the PEEP Policy is effectively monitored and updated. \n➢ Create and implement the PEEP Policy with the help of school staff, the SENDCO and agencies involved with the child / staff member. \n➢ Ensure this policy is effectively implemented and communicated to all members of the school community. \n➢ Ensure all aspects of this policy are effectively carried out. \n➢ Monitor the effectiveness of the PEEP Policy. \n➢ Delegate the responsibility to create PEEPs for pupils, staff, visitors and contractors. \n➢ Report to the Governing Body as necessary. \n➢ Identify persons who may need additional help in evacuating in the event of an emergency and ensure they are offered suitable practical assistance. \nSchool staff have a responsibility to: \n➢ Read and understand the PEEP Policy. \n➢ Know which pupils they encounter have an active PEEP in place. \n➢ Know what to do in the event of an emergency evacuation. \nThe Headteachers PA and Headteacher have a responsibility to: \n➢ Assist in the creation of the PEEP Policy. \n➢ Will dr","cbCaiceG7RyWZ01g","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiceG7RyWZ01g","pdf",305251,"English","# Statement of Intent\n# Background and aims\n# Responsibilities\n# Key Roles and Responsibilities\n# PEEPs\n# Supporting Information","[{\"question\":\"What is the purpose of the Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) policy?\",\"answer\":\"To advise Hewens Primary staff on the personal evacuation process and provide instructions for preparing individual PEEPs for pupils, staff, visitors and contractors who cannot evacuate unaided.\"},{\"question\":\"Who may need a PEEP under this policy?\",\"answer\":\"Anyone with a disability or temporary mobility impairment, including sensory impairments, especially where standard fire safety provisions do not provide an equivalent level of protection during fire or emergency evacuation.\"},{\"question\":\"What responsibilities do school staff have during an emergency evacuation for pupils with PEEPs?\",\"answer\":\"Staff must read and understand the policy, know which pupils have active PEEPs, and know what to do during an emergency evacuation.\"}]","Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan Policy and Guidance - Hewens Primary | PDF",1790094281]
