It explains how to configure timesheets with additional fields for time_in, time_out, lateness, and overtime, then integrate those values into payroll calculations. The guide further details calendar management to define normal working hours, break counts, flexible time rules, overtime authorization, and minute-based margins for late entry and overtime start/end thresholds.","Objective \nPayroll Mauritius allows you to manage the time sheets (absence/attendance days) of Employees. We have seen (see prerequisites) how to manage any overtime by adding it manually. You can also, if desired, manage the hours worked in order to automatically calculate lateness and overtime, which will then also be automatically included in the Payslip, as additional payments or deductions or as a credit for recoverable hours. \nHow to do this ? \nOvertime management is based on the principle that you will need to have employees' entry and exit hours for each day worked. \nTo do this, you can integrate these hours into Payroll Mauritius via different flows, at your choice : \n– direct manual entry in timesheets \n– import a spreadsheet sheet (Excel®, Open Office® or CSV) into the timesheets \n– recovery of an existing electronic pointing system (magnetic, biometric) using APIs made available by Payroll Mauritius \n– implementation of electronic pointing devices (finger print, magnetic card, video recognition... ) with real-time sending to the Cloud (we invite you to consult for this purpose [https://payrollmauritius.com/fr/controle_acces.html](https://payrollmauritius.com/fr/controle_acces.html) ) \n1) Set up the Timesheets \nTo begin with, it is necessary to set up additional columns in the Employees' Timesheets, in order to include, for each day : \n– the time of entry \n– the time of exit \n– lateness \n– overtime hours \nTo do this, go to the'Employer' section and click \non the[Settings][v] button and choose ' Timesheet fields' . \nThe list is displayed (empty at first) containing all the additional optional columns that you can add to the Timesheets. \nNote you can create up to 40 additional columns in the Time Sheets, in order to collect, hours, bonuses, transports, quantities etc... which will then allow you to perform payroll calculations or simply record monthly data that you want to keep by Employee, \n[https://payrollmauritius.com](https://payrollmauritius.com) © Payroll Mauritius – All rights reserved Page 1/11 \nThen click on the [Add Timesheet Field] button \nAs you may have seen earlier (see Prerequisites at the top of this page), it is necessary to enter the different fields to create the column : \nLet's start by setting the column to enter the entry time. Then come in: \n• Iderntifier : time_in \n• Name : Time IN (or Entry Time) \n• Visible : ticked \n• Type : timefield \n• Field : time_in \n• Displ. Pos: 1 and confirm your entry with [Ok] \nClick again on [Add Timesheet field] and set the column for the exit time : \n• Iderntifier : time_out \n• Name : Time OUT (or Exit Time) \n• Visible : ticked \n• Type : timefield \n• Field : time_out \n• Display: 3 and confirm your entry with [Ok] \nClick again on [Add Timesheet field] and set the column to receive the lateness : \n• Identifier : lateness \n• Name : Lateness (or Delays) \n• Visible : ticked \n• Type : numberfield \n• Field : lateness \n• Position : 2 and confirm your entry with [Ok] \nClick again on[Add Timesheet field] and set the column to receive the overtime: \n• Login : overtime \n• Name : Overtime (or Supp Time) \n• Visible : ticked \n• Type : numberfield \n• Field : overtime \n• Position : 4 and confirm your entry with [Ok] \nSo now, when you go to the 'Bulletin Calculation' section and click on the [Timesheet] button and choose an Employee, the display looks like this with the new columns : \n[https://payrollmauritius.com](https://payrollmauritius.com) © Payroll Mauritius – All rights reserved Page 2/11 \n2) Calendar management \nOnce this has been done, it is necessary to define, in order to be able to automatically define whether it is lateness or overtime, what are the employees' normal hours. To do this, we use the Calendars available in Payroll Mauritius. \nBy defining one (or more) Calendar, you will be able to attach it to an Employee which will define his normal working hours, as well as the way you want to calculate his lateness a","cbCairfA51LlRvB5","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCairfA51LlRvB5","pdf",673023,4,"English","en",105,"# Objective\n# How to do this\n## Set up the Timesheets\n## Calendar management","[{\"question\":\"What information does Payroll Mauritius need to manage overtime automatically?\",\"answer\":\"It requires employees’ entry (time of entry) and exit (time of exit) hours for each worked day.\"},{\"question\":\"How do you configure timesheets to calculate lateness and overtime?\",\"answer\":\"Add timesheet fields for time_in, time_out, lateness, and overtime in the Employer settings under Timesheet fields.\"},{\"question\":\"How does calendar management affect lateness and overtime calculation?\",\"answer\":\"Calendars define normal working hours, breaks, overtime eligibility, and minute-based margins that determine when arrivals count as lateness and when departures generate overtime.\"}]","Payroll Mauritius - FAQ - How to Set Up Automatic Overtime Management (and Lateness) | PDF",1789180126,{"code":4,"msg":75,"data":76},"ok",{"site_id":69,"language":68,"slug":77,"title":59,"keywords":78,"description":60,"schema_data":79,"social_meta":134,"head_meta":136,"extra_data":138,"updated_unix":73},"payroll-mauritius-faq-how-to-set-up-automatic-overtime-management-and-lateness","",{"@graph":80,"@context":133},[81,96,116],{"@type":82,"itemListElement":83},"BreadcrumbList",[84,88,91,94],{"item":85,"name":86,"@type":87,"position":9},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":89,"name":10,"@type":87,"position":90},"https://docshare.wps.com/template/",2,{"item":92,"name":51,"@type":87,"position":93},"https://docshare.wps.com/template/general/",3,{"item":95,"name":59,"@type":87,"position":66},"https://docshare.wps.com/template/payroll-mauritius-faq-how-to-set-up-automatic-overtime-management-and-lateness/241753/",{"url":95,"name":59,"@type":97,"image":98,"author":103,"headline":59,"publisher":105,"fileFormat":108,"inLanguage":68,"description":60,"dateModified":109,"datePublished":110,"encodingFormat":108,"isAccessibleForFree":111,"interactionStatistic":112},"DigitalDocument",{"url":99,"@type":100,"width":101,"height":102},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/payroll-mauritius-faq-how-to-set-up-automatic-overtime-management-and-lateness/241753.png","ImageObject",442,249,{"name":57,"@type":104},"Person",{"url":85,"name":106,"@type":107},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-09-23","2026-09-12",true,{"@type":113,"interactionType":114,"userInteractionCount":66},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":115},"ViewAction",{"@type":117,"mainEntity":118},"FAQPage",[119,125,129],{"name":120,"@type":121,"acceptedAnswer":122},"What information does Payroll Mauritius need to manage overtime automatically?","Question",{"text":123,"@type":124},"It requires employees’ entry (time of entry) and exit (time of exit) hours for each worked day.","Answer",{"name":126,"@type":121,"acceptedAnswer":127},"How do you configure timesheets to calculate lateness and overtime?",{"text":128,"@type":124},"Add timesheet fields for time_in, time_out, lateness, and overtime in the Employer settings under Timesheet fields.",{"name":130,"@type":121,"acceptedAnswer":131},"How does calendar management affect lateness and overtime calculation?",{"text":132,"@type":124},"Calendars define normal working hours, breaks, overtime eligibility, and minute-based margins that determine when arrivals count as lateness and when departures generate overtime.","https://schema.org",{"og:url":95,"og:type":135,"og:title":59,"og:site_name":106,"og:description":60},"article",{"robots":137,"canonical":95},"index,follow",{"doc_id":55,"site_id":69}]
